GMC Teams With EarthCruiser To Create Special Overlanding Hummer EV, Debuts Early Next Year

The GMC Hummer EV is slowly trickling its way to customers and has garnered quite a reputation. It’s one of the most capable EVs that the company has ever built, and the model is breathing new life into a brand that was once known for being anything but fuel efficient. However, we never had a chance to see what it would look like if the Hummer were allowed to be an overlanding machine. GMC and EarthCruiser are out to show the world the answer and have released a new teaser photo that appears to answer this question.

Overlanding In Style and Luxury Is This Hummer’s Goal

The new teaser image posted on Instagram provides a side-on view of the Overlander, with the model being based on the Hummer EV pickup. The folks at EarthCruiser chose to create a pop-top-style camper with the shell fitting inside the bed of the EV. The large shell also stretches over the roof and is flush with the cab. The roof has the ability to be raised or lowered to improve space, and it appears that the shell even has a small rear porch to help provide a place to relax when not navigating the trail.

It’s not known if any off-road upgrades that are coming to the Hummer itself (we have seen EarthCruiser pull a few rabbits out of their hat in the past in that regard.) However, the Hummer is already pretty capable as it is, especially when the 9,000 lb beast activates Crab Walk or goes over challenging terrain, as we discovered on our drive in the Hummer EV a short while back.

EarthCruiser To Cover Hummer Installation, But Read The Fine Print…

The teaser image also confirmed that EarthCruiser would install the shell and other associated pieces of kit that come with this particular item but stopped short of revealing how much it would add to the cost of a Hummer pickup. The company plans to offer it early next year, but buyers who add it to their rig will have to read the fine print since the shell and the kit will not be covered under GM’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
