2024 Porsche Cayenne Debuts, Overhauled Interior and Updated Styling Shine A Light On Performance

Porsche promised that big changes were coming to the Porsche Cayenne with the SUV being a key part of Porsche’s sales machine. The outgoing model was starting to show its age. The 2024 Porsche Cayenne is eager to iron out the wrinkles with a whole new suite of updates and performance.

Familiar Face Hides Finer Updates

At first glance, the 2024 Porsche Cayenne looks familiar and you may think that Porsche designers didn’t do too much to change it. However, look past some of the carryover bits and you’ll see that there still some changes to be found here. Matrix design LED headlights and they even have a new look that’s sharper and sleeker than before. The fenders have also been reworked and a new hood joins the mix too. The rear of the Cayenne gets new taillights and several new colors too.

Porsche is also offering a new Lightweight Package that cleaves 72 lbs from the SUV but Porsche is not saying what the package removes from the SUV to help achieve the weight savings nor any other details for that matter. The exterior’s light approach to updates will help it retain a high sense of familiarity among buyers and not rock the boat too much for newcomers either.

Enhanced Technology Makes Cayenne Ready For The Future

With the exterior preferring to play it safe, the interior of the Cayenne is where the bulk of the changes take place. An all-new dashboard design plays the starring role and owners now get a new free standing 12.6-inch digital instrument cluster that has a curved look with drivers having the ability to choose different displays and readouts via separate controls on the steering wheel. A slightly smaller 12.3-inch infotainment system resides in the center stack and benefits from new software with the gear shifter itself now marking the dividing line between the instrument cluster and the center screen. The Cayenne is also the latest SUV to embrace the recent trend of putting screens in the passenger side of the dashboard with a smaller 10.9-inch screen being housed in the space. Like others we have seen, it features auto dimming technology that prevents the driver from seeing what’s going on which reduces distractions and allows the passenger to operate the navigation system or even stream media.

Look for the Cayenne to also offer more room for second row passengers with Porsche claiming that some of the revisions that it made to the platform have helped improve passenger space while other trim levels add their own distinct theme to the interior through trim pieces, seating and other enhancements.

More Performance Solidifies Cayenne’s Track Abilities

Updates to the performance hardware for 2024 is a mixture of old and new with the base Cayenne retaining its 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 albeit with some minor tweaks that help increase horsepower by 13 to 348-hp with torque also being bumped up slightly to 368 lb-ft. The Cayenne E-Hybrid follows the same script but a more powerful 174-hp electric motor allows this variant to make a combined system output of 463-hp with the 25.9 kWh battery pack being upgraded from the outgoing 17.9 kWh one.

Things get much more interesting further up the trim ladder with the Cayenne S ditching its V6 for a twin-turbo V8 that makes 468-hp. When equipped with the Sport Chrono package this particular model can make the sprint to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. The range-topping Turbo GT model bumps the power up to 650-hp and makes the 0 to 60 dash in 3.1 seconds. The Top speed also goes up to 189 mph and gets performance focused hardware like rear-wheel steering, ceramic composite brakes and titanium exhaust system.

Porsche’s Active Suspension Management system comes bundled into the air suspension and is supposed to reduce body roll while also improving pitch and roll management.
