2024 BMW XM Label Red Puts Bespoke Label On Performance, Most Powerful BMW Model Ever

The BMW XM was a controversial SUV when BMW unveiled it not too long ago. The polarizing styling generated plenty of conversations and it was meant to be an all or nothing attempt at adding a pinch of hybrid performance to the M brand. But what if your a luxury buyer that wants something even more powerful and outrageous than that model. BMW thinks it might have the answer for these eccentric 1 percent buyers with the all-new 2024 BMW XM Label Red.

Red Accents Make Label Red Standout

At first glance, it might seem that BMW took part of their design inspiration from a set of track shoes with the way the black paint and the red accents mix together. The core styling doesn’t change too much with the Label Red’s accents perhaps being the wildest addition here. The garish color is used on the grille surrounds, the greenhouse, badging and even the red accented 23-inch black wheels. The black paint is also the latest color from BMW’s Frozen series of matte paints with the gloss resistant color being used to help make the red contrast accents pop even more to the eye.

The interior also gets in on the act with red accents being used in the air vents and the upper portions of the seats. Meanwhile black accents are used in the lower portions of the cabin and the body pillar trim. Red contrast stitching is splashed throughout and the carbon fiber trim gets subtle red accents to help the weave stand out more. The Label Red is all about being noticed but we’re still curious why BMW chose to call it the Label Red instead of the Red Label? Hopefully BMW will clear the air on that soon, but we think it might perhaps be a nod to the world of fashion where sometimes the name of an item is often preceded by the word “label.”

Label Red Cements Its Place As The Most Powerful BMW Model Ever

Performance for the 2024 BMW XM Label red comes from a tweaked version of the standard model’s 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that makes 577-hp and 553 lb-ft of torque that’s also mated to hybrid technology that includes an e-motor placed in the eight-speed automatic transmission. When you add those items into the mix, the combined system output is 738 horsepower which makes it the most powerful BMW model that the German automaker has ever produced. The Label Red is capable of making the sprint to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds and the top speed also goes up to 175 mph when the model is equipped with the M Driver’s Package.

The lone unchanged item here is the 29.5-kWh battery pack that’s lifted from the standard XM. It’s unchanged nature means that it’s still capable of allowing 30 miles of all-electric driving range and a top speed of 87 mph before the gasoline engine takes over.

When Can I Buy One?

The 2024 BMW XM Label Red is expected to make its debut at the Auto Shanghai event later this month with production kicking off in August at BMW’s Spartanburg plant in South Carolina. BMW hasn’t released pricing yet but look for the Label Red to command a healthy premium over the base XM and that’s before you even factor in all the accessories, options and other custom details that can be equipped to the Label Red. As such, we would not be shocked if a fully loaded Label red blasts its way through the $200,000 barrier.
