The McLaren 570S configurator is up – with nearly 75 option choices, numerous wheels and a dozen interior pre-selections to help you part with $180,000 the fast way!
Super-fast, in fact. The configurator’s last step actually reveals a bit of unknown info: the giant MSO carbon-fiber pieces that go way above and beyond the standard 20 exterior CF choices.
These three choices are a full carbon-fiber nose, full CF rear and exposed weave for the roof panel as well. These autoclaved CF upgrades are such gigantic pieces of the material, they are bound to reduce mass versus the standard alloy panel-work.
Let’s break the configurator into sections: including the variables for each.
But first: the result of all this #BlackSwanMoments teaser momentum: a beautiful black swan in the McLaren wind tunnel.

McLAREN SPORTS SERIES ENTERS PRE-PRODUCTION PHASE AHEAD OF GLOBAL LAUNCH
- Most attainable McLaren model range commences final stage ahead of full production
- Pre-production phase will ensure the highest levels of quality for the first model to join the Sports Series family: the 570S Coupe
- Short video showing the Sports Series testing in extreme conditions can be viewed and embedded at: www.youtube.com/McLarenAutomotiveTV
WOKING, England (August 13, 2015) – The countdown to the launch this autumn of the most attainable McLaren road car project yet, the Sports Series, continues with the start of the pre-production phase within the state-of-the-art McLaren Production Centre in Woking, England. This milestone marks the final stage in the development program ahead of the global roll-out of the 570S Coupe; the first model to be launched in the McLaren Sports Series family. A short video documenting some of the stages of testing to date of the newest model in the McLaren range can be viewed at: www.youtube.com/McLarenAutomotiveTV.
Up to this point through the development program, the Sports Series has covered in excess of 300,000 testing miles. These have been on a mixture of race circuits and roads, in some of the harshest conditions around the world including the extreme heat of the Arizona and Nevada summer, the Arctic conditions common of northern Sweden in the winter and, of course, the changeable British weather.
The McLaren Production Centre (MPC) has now been set up in preparation for the start of production, with all tooling in place for the new model. The latest phase of the Sports Series program will ensure the smooth transition of production methods already in place for the Super Series and Ultimate Series models with minimal disruption. It will see the integration of the Sports Series into the production line along with the Super Series, underlining the flexibility of the MPC. This will also ensure the highest levels of quality, matching the exacting standards befitting any model wearing the McLaren badge.
Andreas Bareis, Executive Director – Quality at McLaren Automotive explained, “The pre-production phase is one of the most important, and also one of the most demanding, in a product readiness phase at McLaren. Up to this point, vehicles have been running in various locations around the world and subjected to some of the harshest conditions, and we are testing every component and system to the extreme. This final phase brings all testing together for the first time in a package that is representative of the cars our owners will be taking delivery of.”
“As we move forward as a business we take learnings from previous projects and current products, and now moving into the sports car sector, the program has become the most challenging to date as we push the bar of quality and performance even higher. The relentless drive for continuously improving quality within all business areas, with a focus on the pre-production phase, enables us to achieve a significant milestone which was set as a key target at the beginning of the program. It is a real achievement by the different teams across the business that have helped progress to this point,” said Bareis.
Deliveries of the Sports Series, starting with the 570S Coupe, will commence before the end of the year. When the full family has been launched, forecast to be by the end of 2017, the range is expected to more than double the annual volume of McLaren, and bring the brand in front of a new audience. Prices for the McLaren Sports Series start from $184,900.

The new McLaren 570S is official! This most-affordable model is based on the same carbon-fiber chassis and twin-turbo engine as the P1 and 650S — yet promises to be priced below $200,000.
Massive power and pace comes from a 570-horsepower, 3.8-liter V6TT with 30 percent original parts versus the 650S. The 62-mph sprint is quoted as 3.2-seconds, which makes this new Macca down just 80 ponies and less than half a second from its big brothers in the 650 range.

Big news!
The design is clearly from the same family gene pool, but with enough fresh details to be exciting and interesting in its own right. The nose design features a hyper-scoop of twin splitters below a smiling painted surface area. This wing of a bumper points directly into the LED projector centers of the swoosh mark headlamps, and nicely sets the flow of the bodywork over the front fenders and into the butterfly doors.
The arcing LED accents in the top of the lamps are now twin pillars of light, supplemented by individual, 3D LED light sticks toward the center of the lamp. Pretty cool. These appear to be a foglamp or highbeam as well as the indicators.

New shaping for the hood and inner bumper element add a bit more linearity to the flow of the McLaren supercar aesthetic, but still far from the choppy lines Lambo is best known for delivering.
In profile, a new black-out element of the doors forms giant NACA ducts that are actually free-standing in the doors toward their rear edges. Another free-floating element are the new flying buttress rear pillars, which stand proud of the bodywork. This design lets the rear glass be just a hidden detail with most of the engine cover exposed and open.
Toward the back is where the design of the new 570S will really start the pulse running. A new pair of fiber-optic-type brake lamps form twin droplets of light chasing the shape of the bulging rear fenders. We like how the brake lights appear to glow sharply and in a 3D way versus simple bulb-dot LED designs. This is progress from even the Ultimate Series P1.

Inside, a new-shape carbon cell is far more comfort-oriented with lower sills making entry and exits far simpler. The cabin itself looks fantastic and leather-lined in a way that no other McLaren really is, so far.
Lastly, McLaren is not being coy about the new Sport Series offering: it will feature multiple body styles that are very likely to feature a targa roof option and a full Spider choice down the road.

McLaren has completed its three tier model strategy with the global reveal of the first in its Sports Series family: the McLaren 570S Coupé. This pure sports car, with driver optimised layout and electrifying performance, shares its DNA with the McLaren Super Series and Ultimate Series that sit above it in the range hierarchy. The Sports Series introduces McLaren race-derived technologies and design values to a new segment and audience.
Like every McLaren, the performance of the 570S Coupé is breathtaking. It combines, as its names suggests, a power output of 570PS (562bhp) with light weight construction to give a class leading power-to-weight ratio of 434PS per tonne. The 570S accelerates from 0 to 100km/h (62 mph) in 3.2 seconds, while 200 km/h (124 mph) is reached in just 9.5 seconds with the pace not letting up till the car reaches a top speed of 328 km/h (204mph).
The Coupé is the first bodystyle to be shown in the Sports Series, highlighting the latest evolution of the McLaren design philosophy. The ‘shrinkwrapped’, aerodynamically-optimised form will be seen in public for the first time at the 115th New York International Auto Show. The M
