Hyundai is preparing to take the Ioniq 6 to the next level with the Korean auto giant recently unveiling the facelifted version of the model. It gets a new front end that’s more stylish and elegant but the missing piece of the puzzle was the N version with the company later teasing it with a first wave of teaser images. Hyundai has now released the second wave of teasers and the Ioniq 6 N is shaping up to be another performance blockbuster for the brand.
Shadowy teasers hint at potent Ioniq 6 N performance
For now, Hyundai is still preferring to play in the shadows with the latest round of teasers not revealing too much detail with the Ioniq 6 N preferring to lurk in the darkness. However, the few specks of light that emerge from the car suggest this will not be your average Ioniq 6. A bigger rear wing is on tap and the front end also gets beefed-up styling with the rest of the styling appointments taking a few core pages out of the Ioniq 5 N’s playbook. Hyundai says the 6 N is a “true high-performance electrified streamliner,” and that is reflected by the dual-motor powertrain with the setup most likely matching the 601 hp (641 hp with N Grin Boost mode) seen in the Ioniq 5 N.
Range will most likely take a hit with this model but that’s to be expected since the company is placing performance over efficiency with this particular flavor of Ioniq 6 but look for most buyers to not notice since they will be busy carving corners and hitting impressive acceleration runs.
Pricing to reflect its top-rung status
Look for Hyundai to follow the same pricing strategy as the Ioniq 5 N though the 6 could be below the Ioniq 5 N’s $66,200 base price with the model possibly starting slightly less at $65,000. This also falls in line with other Ioniq 6 models which tend to be $3,000 to $5,000 cheaper than similarly equipped Ioniq 5 models.
The Ioniq 6 N will play a big role in Hyundai’s EV plans with the model allowing Hyundai to have a true one-two punch for consumers especially those that don’t want the boxy look of the Ioniq 5 and instead want a performance vehicle that closely resembles rivals frim Tesla, Lucid, and others.
