Nissan Z Nismo Teased, Gets Its Groove On In Latest Teaser Video [Video]

The Nissan Z certainly has the major ingredients in place to be a potent retro-flavored treat thanks to its simple lines, impressive performance hardware, and modernized interior. However, the Nismo Z model was noticeably absent from the initial model’s launch. Nissan has now confirmed that this version of the Z is in the pipeline and chose to unveil it via a new teaser video.

Nismo Z Puts Its Dancing Shoes On

The exterior styling of the Nismo Z drives home the point that this isn’t your average Z. The model gets an all-new body kit, with the front bumper getting a bigger front splitter and bigger air intakes. The side sills have also been reworked, while a bigger rear spoiler and a revised diffuser add a potent exclamation point to the look.

The changes for the interior are noticeably more minimal, with the cabin getting Nismo souced sport seats and model-exclusive graphics for the instrument cluster. The bulk of the changes are focused under the skin, but Nissan is not ready yet to formally discuss horsepower or other performance numbers. However, we suspect that this model will follow the trend that we have seen in other recent Nismo models, with the Japanese auto giant focusing on gradual upgrades versus an outright infusion of massive horsepower. The twin-turbocharged V6 will also continue to see duty based on the exterior mounted badging, but various tweaks and upgrades will help make it an evolution over the standard model’s engine.

When Can We Buy One?

Nissan also didn’t reveal a formal timeline for the model’s debut and only mentioned that it’s “coming soon” which could translate into a debut later this year. We look forward to hearing more about the Nismo as well as answering some of our lingering questions about what other surprises the model has in store for enthusiasts.
