Buick Previews 2024 Buick Envision, New Styling and Super Cruise Tech Spearhead Changes

The Buick Envision is due for an update, but Buick is showing that it’s not content with resting on its laurels, with the luxury brand releasing a lone preview image of the 2024 Buick Envision, which will vault the model into a new direction both in design and technology.

New Envision Styling Features Wildcat Cues

While the smaller Buick Envista and Encore GX models beat the Envision to the punch when it came to borrowing cues from the elegant Wildcat concept, the Envision will be the largest Buick SUV yet to get styling cues from that concept. Unlike the outgoing model, which looked like an amorphous blob, this version gets a new front fascia with a larger front grille and headlights that are now integrated into the front bumper while the running lights are moved up into the corners. Buick’s new emblem also makes its debut front and center. Buick didn’t reveal too much information about what the rear styling will get, but based on what we saw on the Encore GX, look for the rear to get significantly lighter tweaks and perhaps carry over somewhat unchanged.

What’s In Store For The Interior?

In addition to waiting to see the rear end, we also get to wait to see what the interior of the new Envision will look like, with Buick only releasing an image of the redesigned steering wheel and what appears to be a new digital instrument display. However, we suspect that infotainment system updates are coming to the Envision for 2024 as well as upgrades to select pieces of interior trim and upholstery in certain trims. It was the two latter items that we originally dinged the outgoing Envision on in a prior review of the Avenir model a few years ago.

The lone exception is confirmation that the Envision will get GM’s Super Cruise technology which has begun trickling down to other GM models after being a Cadillac exclusive for a few years. Like other models, the Envision’s system will allow drivers to take their hands off the wheel, and the Envision will drive itself. However, the system is limited to freeway driving only and works on routes pre-mapped by the company. We suspect that this feature will be an option on some models, with the Avenir variant perhaps being the only one to have it standard to reflect its role as the range-topping model.

When Can I Buy One?

The 2024 Buick Envision is slated to go on sale towards the end of 2023 as an early 2024 model, with Buick promising that more details will be released over the next few months. Separately, Buick is also scheduled to unveil two additional new vehicles before the year comes to a close, but folks wondering if one of them is some form of a production Wildcat coupe, don;t get your hopes up, Buick has stated in the past that the brand is going all-in on SUVs and that they will form a prominent part of its sales plans moving forward.
