Buick Officially Launches 2021 Buick Envision, Will Launch Ad Campaign This Spring

The 2021 Buick Envision first made its appearance back in 2020 and while the brand was willing to share some information about the model, we were still left in the dark on some of the more detailed aspects that made this iteration of Envision stand out from its predecessors. Buick has ended this drought of information and has officially launched the 2021 Envision with the model trickling its way into dealer showrooms now.

Revamped Styling Pumps Vigor Into Envision

When the Buick Envision first appeared it was often described as a model that looked handsome but lacked the visual spark that made it truly stand out from segment benchmarks. The second generation Envision aims to address that and brings a whole new design language to the fore-front/ The front fascia for example has a much more chiseled look to it and it also manages to look much more aggressive than before. the sleek headlights lead the eye to the side profile which has more of a softer look than before. The rear fascia has also been redone and it brings new taillights to the tweaked rear hatch.

The look really comes into its own when the Envision is allowed to be transformed into an Avenir model with additional chrome accents and other subtle touches helping bring the Envision into the Avenir’s approach to things. Buick reps also revealed that they will be placing greater emphasis into allowing the Avenir sub-brand to grow and expand this time around which will help with long term customer retention especially if Avenir makes its way to more Buick models like the recently announced 2022 Buick Enclave.

Envision Interior Previews Future Buick Design

In addition to the exterior, Buick designers also went to work on the interior of the Envision and have completely revamped the cabin for 2021. Higher quality materials are very abundant, and the new platform also promises enhanced levels of cargo and passenger space. Avenir models kick things up a notch and bring a number of goodies to the fore-front including heated/cooled seats with massaging drivers seat, heated rear seats, and even a HUD display.

Along with the improved coddling the 2021 Envision is also slated to bring a number of impressive standard safety features to the table including standard forward collision warning, rear park assist, and front pedestrian braking. This enhanced level of safety works hand in hand with the updated infotainment system which features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability.

“The all-new 2021 Envision is a tremendous opportunity for the brand,” revealed Duncan Aldred, global vice president for Buick and GMC. “With strong, differentiated designs, and a combination of advanced technologies and premium appointments, it will stand apart in one of the industry’s most competitive segments.”

We hope that the interior can at least live up to its end of the bargain especially as it seeks to outclass some very key rivals in the luxury CUV segment.

Envision To Bring Four Cylinder Power Across The Board

Today’s launch also served as the final confirmation for the performance hardware that will be offered on the 2021 Buick Envision. All models will be powered by a 2.0 liter turbocharged four cylinder engine which brings 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque to consumers. Front-wheel-drive will be the standard format but buyers can upgrade to an optional twin-clutch all-wheel drive system which can give them a leg up in snowier climates. A nine speed automatic will be the sole transmission available.

An optional Adaptive Air Suspension will also make its appearance on certain Envision models while a Sport Touring model will also be available. Like other ST badged Buicks the bulk of the sportiness here is mostly for looks with Buick stylists replacing many of the chrome bits with darkened pieces of black trim. The interior also gets some sporty touches in it to help it better connect with its more active mission in life.

When Can I Buy A 2021 Buick Envision?

Buick revealed that the first Envision models are making there way to showrooms as of this writing, but we won’t judge if you didn’t know that till today. Buick has kept a low profile when it comes to formal advertising and marketing for the model but that will change in the next few months. While Buick revealed that it has no plans to advertise during the Super Bowl, brand reps did reveal that the Envision will have a much bigger spotlight during NCAA’s March Madness tournament.

Pull the trigger to buy one and you will be greeted with a base price of $35,290 which will get you a Preferred model with a healthy blend of standard equipment and luxury. Essence models start at $38,795 and bring more goodies such as an air ionizer system, heated front seats, and a hands free power operated tailgate. Last but not least is the $43,690 Avenir model which will be the range topping model in the lineup. The Envision Avenir replaces the 2020 Premium model and look for that particular model to bring the fight to the Lincoln Corsair, Acura MDX, and the Infiniti QX50.

We will be reaching out to Buick to try and evaluate one in the near future so stay tuned to Car-Revs-Daily for our thoughts on Buick’s newest CUV offering when we have the chance to get behind the wheel.
