800-feet above the water in a high-wire London river crossing!? Yessir – the 2016 XF is trying to make a splash by… not making a splash.
The subtle nose and tail are all-new for the upcoming model-year, with new LED tech for the low and high-beams plus new F-Type-shaped LED optics for the brake lights.
It is not a truly splashy makeover, but a subtle update to better fit the new design of the all-new XE compact and upcoming XJ refresh.
The biggest news, arguably, happens inside the cabin. All-new Jaguar touch-screen and 12-inch TFT display bring the XF up to date in the tech fronts, where the current nav system is a major weakness of the vehicle versus its BMW and Mercedes rivals.
Engines and drivetrains for the upcoming 2016 XF in the US market are likely to mirror the latest model: with a base turbo four, available AWD and at least two levels of more potent motors available. The supercharged six and eight-cylinder engines are likely to mirror the F-Type — which means a manual transmission might even be in the cards for this important lynchpin of the Jag lineup.
Full details are coming next week, with the car itself likely to arrive in US showrooms around November of this year as a 2016 model.
