RM Paris 2016 - 2004 ENZO FERRARI 13

RM Paris 2016 – 2004 ENZO FERRARI Is Tastefully Updated with Dark Tints, Smoked Alloys

This Enzo is seriously sexy, even with more than two dozen other hypercars now competing for attention 11 years since its delivery. A slightly darker wheel finish looks more modern than the original bright silver of the five-spoke, centerlock alloy wheels.  Some detail carbon-fiber touches are subtle but cool up close. Finally, a deep window tint all around gives this dark Enzo a menacing stare. 2004 ENZO FERRARI RM Sotheby’s Paris 3 February 2016 2004 Ferrari Enzo Chassis no. RM All-Stars – 2003 Ferrari Enzo Earns Double its Sticker Price 10 Years After Built

Doubling the original sticker price just ten years after a car was made is a solid indication of a car’s all-time greatness and future-icon status. This gorgeous Enzo brought in $1.3-million at RM Auctions 2013 Arizona sale, and is on track to be one of Ferrari’s greatest hits. Including the car today in a post because the RM Auctions photo set of the car in silver is the most gorgeous collection of Enzo pictures we have ever seen. Enjoy.   http://www.rmauctions.com/lots/lot.cfm?lot_id=1057513   2003 Ferrari Enzo

2005 Ferrari Pininfarina Crowd-Sourced Design Contest Is Gift That Keeps on Giving

2005 Ferrari Pininfarina Crowd-Sourced Design Contest Is Gift That Keeps on Giving You know your brand has reached top-level icon status when you can ask the world to give your their best ideas, to possibly be used without credit, free of charge. That is exactly what Ferrari and styling lead Pininfarina did in 2005 to solicit ideas for a new hypercar flagship – something along the lines of the Enzo 2.0, or what we now know as LaFerrari eight years later in present-day. Do you recall the 2005 Ferrari and Pininfarina design contest? It was big news at the time …

MASERATI Goes All-In At 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed with Alfieri, MC12 and A6GCS Berlinetta

The big guns were out in force from Maserati in England this weekend! Compared with the Trident – who has been visiting Goodwood since the track was on the official world racing calendar – all other OEMs might rightly be called ‘johnny-come-lately’s. The MC12 is wearing a special Centennial paintjob in dark grey with airbrushed heroes past in the paintwork, while the ever-popular A6GCS captures the collective mood of 2014 very, very well indeed. MASERATI HIGHLIGHTS AT GOODWOOD FESTIVAL OF SPEED 2014 30/06/14 Maserati Alfieri Concept takes centre stage in the Stable Yard for Maserati’s centenary Maserati A6GCS named ‘best …

Concept Flashback – 2000 Ferrari Rossa Concept Speedster Influences Corvette, NC2020 and F12 TRS

The year 2000 Ferrari Rossa concept is a perfect example of some trendy ideas aging poorly, and other genius ideas finally coming of age nearly 15 years later. The overall shape of the Rossa concept and its surfacing instantly date the machine, sure. It is too blob-like and too bubbly in every form angle to be competitive today. But there are a few items that are looking mighty up-to-date, even today in 2014: — the speedster windshield: still a huge fan of this style, and Ferrari fans are too. The 2014 F12 TRS uses a free-form top part of the …

Iconic Classic Supercars: 1965 Bizzarrini Strada Alloy 5300GT One of Most Influential Cars, Ever

Ever the tornado of creativity and speed, Ferrari was quite volatile in the early 1960s. For every race they won, it seems like a failed buyout from Ford and the epic ‘palace revolution’resulted in a big brain drain for Maranello. Competing hot-shot engineers would form nearly a dozen competing supercar marques, including Lamborghini, De Tomaso, Iso, ATS, ASA and Bizzarrini. Each led by a mastermind engineer, stylist, machinist or visionary, only Lamborghini’s brand was strong enough to make it to the 1970s and beyond. The Ferrari exodus left all these talented men with huge ideas, but less of a real …

Maserati 100th Anniversary Celebrations in Italy! Museo Enzo Ferrari is Maser Mania All Summer

Maserati 100th Anniversary One thing is certain in the history of exotic cars: Maserati has made dozens of the best of the best. The firm is celebrating 100 years in 2014 and has a lovely exhibit in the Museo Enzo Ferrari all summer ahead of a grand gala in September. The reservations for attending the many events is today!  Ahh! Sorry for lack of notice to those who might want to attend. But even if you are not planning to bring your Maserati all the way to Italy for the homecoming – there are still dozens of fun things on …

Hypercar Hall of Fame – 2003 Enzo Ferrari in 77 Original Maranello Launch Photos

A: These photos … are so old…. B: How old are they…? A:These photos are so old… that they appear to have been snapped on film.   Fujifilm 35-mm film! My, how the times are moving fast. But even though the original photos have aged, the car is as gracefully brutal as it was when Tiff Needell first took it around a few hot laps of the Fiorano circuit. Here he is, in fact. Remember this exact car? The one with the Ferrari partner/supplier stickers on the side air ducts? One for old souls, perhaps. Or at least people who …

SHELBY COBRA – How These Two Words Ultimately Killed the Ford Takeover of Ferrari in 1963

No series of articles about the GT40 can begin without a look at how the car came to exist. A battle of spite between Ferrari and Ford? Yes. But also a battle to establish Ford as a racing powerhouse – which was a new opportunity to regain face as Chevrolet and General Motors dominated the coolest car news via Motorama shows and Corvettes in the 1950s. FROM DE-FACTO BANS ON BOTH RACING CARS AND RACY MOVIES… Racing was also heavily discouraged by the United States government of the time – until the case was made that racing improved the breed. …

Concept Flashback -- 1969 Alfa-Romeo Tipo 332 Coupe Speciale -- Gullwing Mid-Engine Supercar That Never Was 12

Concept Debrief – 1969 Alfa-Romeo Tipo 332 Coupe Speciale – Gullwing Canary in Supercar Coal Mine

This Alfa is Canary Yellow. It was also a dying canary in the coal-mine of Italian supercar fates of the next decade. When a canary dies in his cage deep undergound, miners knew the toxicity of the air was going from bad to worse. In mid-1960s Italy, the momentum to start one’s own hypercar legacy was a powerful draw. By 1969, all in the small sports-car business at the time marvelled at Feruccio Lamborghini’s success in carving sales away from Ferrari. Ferrari had quashed nearly all attempts by Maserati and Alfa-Romeo at reclaiming their past glory, and non-Ferrari people were …

Amelia Island 2014 – 2005 Maserati Birdcage 75th Concept

2005 Maserati Birdcage 75th Concept The Birdcage 75th runs the full (Enzo-derived) MC-12 running gear under these exotic panels — ensuring this is a truly rapid exotic as well as a design showpiece. Under that huge glass perspex canopy: the visible steering linkage and inboard, pushrod suspension are quite magnificent. One concern with the original Birdcage concept was that the cabin became a bit hot in any sunlight — but hopefully the Birdcage 75th solves for that with air conditioning. Unfortunately for this car’s new owner… Based on the race-car steering wheel and driver package, however, this car may not have …

Design Analysis – 2014 Alfieri Maserati Concept

Design Analysis – 2014 Alfieri Maserati Concept Only the short-sighted have ever underestimated Maserati. One man named Enzo found the Trident such a threat that he spent more than a few years trying to bury his cross-town rival in the 1960s and 1970s. Over Maserati’s supernaturally-blessed, but tumultuous, 100-year history so far: the Trident has adorned many far-flung concepts and racers that were each at least 20 years ahead of their time. In an era when Ferrari and Lamborghini were bringing key auto design functions back in-house, the wildest cards in Italy frequently found an eager audience with Maserati. It …

The Most Stylish 4-Door Never Made? 1980 Ferrari Pinin Still Brilliant

The 1980 Ferrari Pinin concept shares much of the low-slung beauty of the 400i models, but none of their affordability. This one-off concept is being sold by Museo Ferrari for $1.2 million. Before you write off this design and its gob-smaking egg-crate grille, take a few minutes to twirl it around with 30 years perspective since its debut. Yes, the nose is messy, and the clamshell hood shows some panel fit issues in some of the photos.   But Enzo Ferrari himself is also sitting in the car for some of the photos, evaluating it around Fiorano on a nice …

Ferrari 599XX Heading to Paris for RM Auctions in Feb 2014

Buckle up. Tighten belts. Hang on! It looks like the day has finally come: one of Ferrari’s ultra-exclusive Corse Clienti XX models is set for public sale by RM Auctions this February in Paris. Widely believed to be pushing out nearly 800 horsepower through its Enzo-plus V12 engine, all of the typical street weight is stripped out. A full carbon-fiber aero redesign nearly doubles downforce (and grip) versus the 599 road cars, and weight is a very private figure – assumed to be at least 800 pounds lighter than anything with a license plate. Type approvals and imports will be …
