Catching up here! The new X4 M40i came out earlier this month, and is heading to USA showrooms in the next few months!
Power takes a big leap up to 355-ponies and 343 pound-feet of torque. Through the standard eight-speed auto and new M-calibrated xDrive, the X4 M40i shoots to 60-mph in just 4.7-seconds. That is about a half-second quicker than the existing range-topper, the X4 xDrive35i M Sport with its $50k base price.
We expect the M40i X4 to come in around $55k with its light tweaks to the style outside, grey detailing all around, and custom chassis settings.
Confusingly, the new M40i for the X4 does not share its engine with the new 340i. That new motor is the B58 modular unit first seen in the i8, and delivering 320 ponies to the 340i.
This is a TwinPower Turbo upgrade of the existing N55 engine family, but extensively tuned with new Performance Controls and M settings.
