2024 Ford Ranger Raptor Prepares To Storm U.S. Ford Details How Suspension Plays Key Role

When Ford revealed the second generation Ranger pickup a short while back, the Blue Oval promised that this iteration of the Ranger would be a true global offering with the truck being built from the ground up for both the U.S. and international markets. That included the second generation Ranger Raptor which is shaping up into a true global threat in the off-road wars. Ford confirmed that the Raptor would be coming to the U.S. when we first saw the truck at Camp Woodbury. Now the company has revealed new details about what it truly brings to the table for buyers in regards to handling and trail prowess.

Ranger Raptor’s Suspension Plays A Key Role In Its Ambitions

The 2024 Ford Raptor already brings a number of key essentials to the trail, but one item that might be overlooked at first glance is the Fox 2,5-inch Live Valve Internal Bypass shocks. This suspension system consists of two key components with the front half getting coil-over springs while the rear gets piggyback reservoirs. Ford claims that this setup helps reduce heat build-up and the suspension even comes with a dedicated computer control unit to help adjust the response depending on what drive mode the truck is in: Normal, Tow/Haul, Sport, Slippery, Off-Road, Rock Crawl, and Baja. The system also uses sensors located in each wheel to help monitor and change the setup depending on what the truck encounters.

In addition to the trick suspension, the Ranger Raptor also gets additional bracing, reinforcements, and other upgrades that help the truck handle all kinds of obstacles and terrain. The upgrades on hand here aim to bring the fight to rivals like the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2, GMC Canyon AT4X, and the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro especially with the Raptor embracing a truly global gameplan in terms of long-term sales success.

Performance for the 2024 Ranger Raptor is shared with the Bronco Raptor SUV and that means a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 that makes 405 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque and a 10-speed automatic helping to send that power to all four wheels. While the Bronco Raptor and the Ranger version might share some core DNA with each other, the Ranger’s role as a pickup forced the company to make revisions to the platform to help it cope with occasional towing and cargo hauling duties.

When Can I Buy a Ranger Raptor?

The 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor will be making its way to dealerships next year with the company already accepting pre-orders for the Raptor. A base model starts at $56,960 but Ford is still not quite ready to talk about final fuel economy numbers for the model. In the meantime, Ford has released a brief video detailing how the suspension works which can be seen below.Â
