Ram TRX Cruises To Retirement, WIll Be Replaced By 2025 Ram 1500 RHO Model

The 2025 Ram 1500 may be enjoying its time in the spotlight, but its arrival also means that the Ram TRX will be cruising into retirement. However, Ram is not going to give up a lucrative slice of the full-size pickup market and has confirmed that the trail-ready TRX will be replaced by the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO.

RHO Will Have Very Big Shoes To Fill

At first glance, it would seem that Ram dropped the ball a bit when it came to the name. Unlike the TRX which conjured images of big ferocious dinosaurs reigning supreme in their kingdom, the RHO moniker sounds like an option code that you would find buried in a Stellantis ordering manual. However, look past its unassuming name and it appears that the truck is trying its best to pick up where the TRX left off. The axing of the 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 in the Ram for 2025 sees the RHO embrace the smaller 3.0-liter, twin-turbo “Hurricane” I-6 that makes 540-hp. That’s not as powerful as the Hellcat V8 but the Hurricane should still make the truck a potent offering out on the trail.

However, look for the RHO to appeal to a different sub-segment of off-road buyer. Wheras the TRX was designed to be a brash performance offering that aimed to be the pinnacle of Ram off-road performance, the RHO will help lure in buyers that want capability but at a cheaper price and the fact that it would have better fuel economy doesn’t hurt either. Ram didn’t reveal further details on the Ram RHO but sightings that we had of the model near the company’s Auburn Hills tech center/headquarters confirm that the RHO will look very similar to the TRX albeit with the same refreshed front and rear ends as the standard issue Ram 1500.

When Can I Buy One?

The 2025 Ram 1500 RHO will enter production in the middle of next year and will appear after the bulk of the 2025 Ram 1500 lineup makes its way to showrooms. The order of events in Ram’s timeline suggests that the brand is splitting the launch into three key components with the Ram REV and the Ramcharger forming the tail end of this initiative when they make their way to dealerships towards the end of 2025.
