2013 McLaren 12C from Velocity Motorsports in 98 High-Res Exterior, Interior and Track Photos

The McLaren 12C’s design comes alive in person. Instead of overt graphics to the nose and tail, the 12C relies on its supercar proportions to announce your arrival.

There is one other big trick up the 12C’s sleeve, however. Or two, to be more precise.

The doors are absolutely divine in their swan-like action as well as their ease of use in daily life. Much lighter and more reach-able than the elegant-on-paper the Mercedes-Benz SLS gullwings – and perhaps even a bit more graceful as well. The 12C and its ultra-low and wide dimensions are ice-cold classic supercar from first sight in the flesh – so the lovely carbon doors are really just extra theater versus the plain-Jane portals of the F430, GT-R and Lamborghini Balboni parked in the same line.

Here we can see the handsome and sporty Honda Civic Coupe getting chummy with Velocity Motorsports’ supercars…

Velocity Motorsports in Atlanta has a hell of a fleet – and it is continuously updated with hot new carbon-fiber ‘metal’ so you won’t be bored on your next visit.

The drama of the 12C’s doors is down lifting of almost bodyside and lower sill on its effortless gas-strut props. The result when open is as dramatic as any scissor-door Lamborghini and twice as useful in the real world. Both for actual ingress/egress as well as for jaw-dropping sex appeal.

The only caveat about these doors is that, for this car, they are ‘pre-button.’

McLaren originally launched the MP4-12C with electrostatic door handles on the outside – with a touch of the finger opening the latch. This was later changed to a discreet button on the underside of the air intakes.
