2011 Morgan AeroMax LHD Tall-Boy Special – RM London 2017

Just 100 of these AeroMaxes were produced for sale!  Seems a small quantity compared to the outsized reputation this machine has for its Top Gear and UK car-mag popularity.  The AeroMax is sure to be collectible thanks to its well-known teardrop hardtop design, split rear window and somewhat cross-eyed appearance from certain angles.

This edition to be sold by RM Sotheby’s London sale this week is a delicious metallic blue over lipstick red inside.  It has less than 2000 miles from new and was originally sold to a member of the British royal family.

A coupe special features of this AeroMax were done to handle the tall height of the original buyer.  The seat is mounted lower, kick plates in front removed and pedals relocated a bit more forward.  This may be one of the only AeroMaxes to comfortably fit a driver over six feet. Louder subs and special wood rounded out the build.

The car is offered without reserve with around a 125k-pounds estimate.  Its left-hand-drive layout would make it a great contender for a buyer outside the UK as well as locals.

  • First owned by Prince John Radziwill; single-family ownership from new
  • Under 2,700 km from new
  • One of just 100 AeroMaxes built
  • Arguably Morgan’s most spectacular 21st century design

Ordered as a gift for its first and only owner, Prince John Radziwill, this AeroMax sports a fascinating and beautiful specification, finished in Supersports Zurillic Blue Metallic over Yarwood Kensington Penfold quilted leather.

According to Morgan Motor Company records, construction began on the car during the week of 30 August 2009 and, as with any Morgan, customization options were vast; this car’s custodian took full advantage of that. Further to the car’s wonderful colors, interior woodwork was done in brown velvet wood stain with black carpets. The Aeromax was optioned with satellite navigation, and the sound system was upgraded with more powerful subwoofers.

Additionally, Morgan performed a number of other modifications to accommodate the originals owner’s height. This included removing the seat plates and installing the seats directly onto the floor, moving the pedals two centimeters closer to the bulkhead, and not fitting a footrest in the passenger foot well. Finally, the running boards were inscribed with the script ‘Defendall’, adding a further touch of customization.
