The Rolls-Royce Ghost is absolutely spectacular on all levels, in all colors and even considering the cost.

Experiencing Ghost up close only makes the configuration options of the new V-Spec even more enticing.

The new-for-2014 Ghost V-Specification is welcome because even though a Ghost could be made to look like this in the aftermarket, it is nice to see some of the wild old spirit of the founding gentlemen back in action.

Before we dive in: Rolls-Royce refers to their vehicles as simply Ghost and Wraith, not The Ghost and the Wraith.

Just tradition, I’m told, but something I did not know until experiencing rapid/smooth money and class on wheels.

During a spectacular launch for the Wraith at the Phoenician in Scottsdale, your humble but often opinionated scribe had the chance to experience Wraith, Ghost and Phantom in about a seven-hour period.

Needless to say, definitely a Best Day Ever moment. Some of my articles written on the plane and when home the next day are interesting, and hopefully as flattering about the cars as they should be.

Some of the wood and styling options are more enticing than others, but I spent (a slightly embarrassing) 75 minutes building my ideal Jay Gatsby dream-car. The photo of me below is the opposite of that dream-car, but in “East Egg” aka Amagansett, New York.

Don’t worry, this Impala was a ‘rental.’

So back to Roller coasters.

For the record, the V-Specification option pricing is not denoted, but you know the saying…

I am on the fence between Ensign Red or Brooklands Green for the exterior. But firmly in favor of the satin hood finish and a monotone cabin – which is only one of about eight paint themes and V-spec Inspirations.

Colors are a few suggested dark purples and blacks in the initial videos – but anything is possible on a Rolls-Royce commissioned from new. 44,000 shades are ready to paint tomorrow in Goodwood.

Lastly: in the rare case that my user experience can be helpful to this smart configurator crew:

– I could not find many leather colors?  perhaps a V-Spec thing

– Perhaps some user-initiated Sounds please, maybe some engine stuff? Or audio/visual comparison of “thunk” over pothole in back seat of Audi A6L versus Ghost V-Spec on biggest wheels? For example.

Could turbo puff steam through hood on some future Roller Gentwagons?
