2019 Unimog U128 – Extreme Terrain Driving Experience Gallery

The annual press conference for Daimler Trucks occurred recently and they let the execs and shareholders loose to test the impossibly cool 2019 Unimog.  In a wild simulation of the roughest terrain it might find it is wild life. This off-road course is no joke, with wild inclinations and turf rougher than double-black-diamond ski moguls! The Zetros is thumping through all the obstacles too – but looks slightly more like a locomotive that’s jumped its tracks.  The Unimog in this crew-cab pickup trim is best able to use its inherent suspension skills and power — without the weight of a …

Slow-Motion ActionGIFs of 2017 Lambo LP580-2 Sideways Around Doha!

Lamborghini’s going sideways at full throttle!? Ahhh!  Run for your lives! Cue the screams and tire shrieks? Yes, but this time in that mid-drift orgasm.  Not some AWD beast off its leash. The LP580-2 is the first rear-drive Lamborghini since the Gallardo Balboni, and is re-engineered to be extra playful.  Frisky, sideways and thrilled about it… Despite standard AWD across the range, Lambo is not out of practise on rear-drive models.  The GT3 cars are all rear-drive and guided the new front suspension development.  We personally like the looks of the 580’s nose a bit better than the Huracan LP610-4. …

Buy, Sell or Hold? Ford EV Push Promises Dozen New Hybrids in 5 Years

Ford is making a giant hoopla over a very unexciting announcement. One mostly sans cars, by the way, excluding the 2016 Focus Electric and teased ______ Energi PHEV. The plan lacks a catchy name for now, so let’s just call it e-Ford for short. Will e-Ford be able to make a big market impact from the 4.5-billion investment over the next half-decade?  And is Ford really the one to pursue this?  Their tech, as many know all too well, is woeful at times. They kept paying SONY and Microsoft ridiculous licensing and tech-services fees for MyFord Touch long after the …

Sprint pace is 3.4-seconds to 100-kph, which is only a tenth or so behind the standard AWD model, despite lacking all that grip from the front axle. Vmax is 320-kph and the overall package is down about 70 pounds versus the LP610-4. 580HP from the dry-sumped V10 engine in back have custom-tailored drive modes, redone for 2016 as well as for this rear-drive Huracan specifically. Vorsteiner Reveals Extreme NOVARA Lamborghini HURACAN Aerokit

Latest gorgeous upgrades from Vorsteiner take a deep chop to the factory Lamborghini Huracan. Every element of the lower body is redone in motorsport-intense carbon fiber, while other GT3-inspired details shout to the heavens from the main bodywork. New slices in the fenders are beautiful, as is the sharper intake flic on the side pillars behind the glasshouse. In back, we see an alternative to the other Vorsteiner gooseneck wings — with latticework of carbon-fiber for the uprights. The plane of the wing matches each tilt and surface of the main bodywork, just raised nearly a foot off the trunklid …

Citroen, as we know, has little trouble creating absolutely stunning prototypes and concept cars. These are far different from the norm of concept cars lately in the US market. With a design that harks back to the low and lean appearance of the Audi 5000 from the late 1980s, the Prologue design does feel much better as a deeply-sloping wagon silhouette. Updated USA Debut – 2014 BMW Vision Future Luxury Concept – Design Analysis

Updated 8.27.14 The fact that the BMW Vision Future Luxury concept headed to Beijing this Spring instead of to the concurrent New York show says quite a bit about its market-makers. This machine needs to be successful in China. Period. As the biggest growth opportunity, China represents perhaps the only non-American and non-German (domestic) volume market for ultra-luxury sedans in the coming decade. But while the Chinese limo shopper has whole-heartedly adopted the Audi brand, BMW and Mercedes-Benz find themselves playing second fiddle. At the same time, the VFL concept needs to revive the unpopular current 7 series in the …

Video Ride-Along with Velocity Motorsports AMP Taxi! Lexus IS-F Trio Teaches Track Layout

Just as the Nurburgring has the BMW M5 ‘Ring Taxi’ — the AMP has the Lexus IS-F three-pack from Velocity Motorsports. Atlanta Motorsports Park is a brand-new track about 30 minutes outside of Atlanta. Combining huge elevation change and sharp, Tilke-designed bends — the AMP track is not easy to learn quickly. A four-seat supercar is therefore critical to show rookies the lay of the land — both where to go fast and where to ease up. And where to hit the brakes hard at the end of the zero-visibility straight-away! The Lexus IS-F is obviously a favorite around here, …

Best of Awards – 2015 INFINITI Q70S and LWB Q70L Win Best Design Refresh

Best Facelift? That is not a category many would aspire to win. Certainly not Argentina’s embattled President, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, who sulked mightily in the corner of the McLaren P1 GTR launch event on Friday in Pebble Beach. But for many luxury sedans, a great facelift can be the breath of life they need to earn new buyers and keep previous loyal owners happy at the same time. 2013’s best luxury sedan facelift would certainly go to the Mercedes-Benz E350 — a car so new-feeling that its sales have jumped mightily, but so carry-over that it is almost hard …

There is light humor to be found in Brabus handling factory restorations, as Brabus is best-known for taking factory cars and cranking the horsepower and torque figures sky-high…. But still. Acura TLX Prototype Is Actually Quite Handsome + New 8-Speed and 9-Speed Transmissions

The 2015 TLX concepts from the Detroit show are packing huge advancements under that newly-stylish profile. In fact, this front or AWD sedan is on the bleeding edge of technology across all Honda and Acura models. How? —  New eight-speed twin-clutch automatic for the 2.4-liter —  New nine-speed torque converter auto for the 3.6-liter V6 Certainly raised my eyebrows, in a good way! As does the styling. Despite sharing many family traits with terminal RLX sedan, the TLX prototype is really quite handsome. The once-controversial grille has even evolved into a much more cohesive and attractive shape. Toyota CALTY Design Teams – Then with 1978 Celica and Now with 2014 FT1 Concept

I was going to add these charming images from Toyota to the FT1 article from earlier today – but decided to feature this talented team in a stand-alone article.   The below image shows the CALTY team with one of their first full projects, the hugely-successful 1978 Celica. But I’ll be thrilled to never suffer the previous Corolla S model’s hideous body kit. Onto the good news: the new Corolla brings better style, standard LED lighting, and a bit more knee room in back than before. No, it is not huge suddenly – something seems wrong with Toyota’s measurements. The Corolla claims better legroom in back versus the Dart, but the Dart packs 10 extra inches of rear hip room. Something perhaps not realistic …

The all-new MINI John Cooper Works is taking shape! After the recent debut of the all-new 2014 Mini Cooper and Cooper S, the hottest member of the MINI clan is closing fast in the rear-view mirror.   Even as a concept, the huge body revisions are visible from almost every angle versus its 2014 MINI siblings. Up front, the JCW brings nearly double the square footage of air intakes, and a far more menacing lower chin style. Expected to run a turbocharged four-cylinder versus the top Cooper S model’s turbo triple, the JCW will be able to really push the …
