2019 McLaren-Honda F1 Racer Rendered With Gorgeous Closed-Cockpit Canopy

Andries Van Overbeeke’s third set of future F1 car designs is his most intriguing yet — thanks to a subtle tweak up top and a revolution down below. Up top in the Overbeeke F1 McLaren-Honda we have a closed cockpit for the first time. No F1 car has run enclosed in the history or the event. Shaped like a fighter jet canopy, this forward-hinged cockpit promises smoother aero at high speeds and enhanced safety in any accident. F1 cars have typically been open for practical reasons. Venting exhaust fumes at first, then allowing drivers to be ejected or extracted …

2016 Koenigsegg REGERA – Rendered Colorizer in 100 Images from 2 Angles

These colorizers are pretty hard work. It is very tricky to accomplish a new car color with anything near photo-real results. Plus, every image requires some unique steps and fiddling. But we are thrilled to present the results here: the incredible new Koenigsegg Regera in 100 never-before-seen colors. As we suspected, the mellow silver/blue of the show car is one of its weak points. As you can see in these eye-popping shades, there is a stunning design under there. Enjoy the below visuals. Everything from Dubai-style flashes of yellow to London greys and St. Tropez tans help the new Regera …

Fantasy Supercar Renderings – RUF Porsche 993 Turbo RS

Yes, Porsche made a 993 Turbo S, and RUF made a Turbo R (below)… but what about something altogether wilder? Here we present a fantasy digital rendering three-pack of the Porsche 993 RUF 911 of our dreams: what we’re calling the Turbo RS. Much change went into the look of this car, but it started out with simple updates: darker wheels and perhaps a RUF graphic on the side? But after driving into the renders, we decided to lower the front spoiler and make it wider, chop the roof, extend the side sills downward to hug the wheels better, and …

2015 Ford Mustang GT – Custom Colorizer

These next Huracan ones are the official colors options versus my photochop above. Adding too many colors that are not factory options might make automakers care even less about our little website. Future Supercar Renderings – 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Sedan

There are a few realities to consider when asking: is this Z06 Sedan likely or even possible in the future? The first: Many Corvette fans have pined over a four-door version for as long as the car has been around — since 1953, then. The second fact: Chevrolet has long sought to imbue its regular models with Corvette-like traits. Corvette engines in the Impala SS, anecdotes galore about the new Cadillac CTS-V being a ‘Corvette with four doors,’ etc. Chevrolet is back on the Corvette love parade lately, with many future models like the Volt and Malibu said to benefit …

Fantasy ChopTop Renders – 2015 Cadillac Escalade Feeling Lowww!

Big drama in development work on the site today. The only respite for this author – to stay busy and resist panicking as all images went down? Making more custom images, oddly enough. A chop-top conversion is one of the hardest to handle with OEM quality. A widebody is almost exclusively an exterior upgrade, but a chopped roofline requires some serious changes. Roll cages, electronics, cabin trims, doors, doorframes and glass all need to be redone. Not exactly something you can eyeball along the way, or carbon-fiber your way out of CAD-CAM studies in advance. But for visual impact, a …

2016 Lexus GS-F Teased Ahead of Detroit + Exclusive Digital Renderings

Lexus has not specified exactly what new F model is coming to Detroit – preferring to leave a bit of mystery in the two teasers just revealed. We have a hunch it is the long-rumored GS-F in production form, arriving to Lexus showrooms in Summer 2015 as a 2016 model. But it could be a new IS-F, or perhaps even the expected LS revamp. We believe it is the GS-F from a close look at the front fenders, the hood length, and the fact that the GS would greatly benefit from the latest nose shown in the IS and RC. …

Spec Rendering – 2016 Subaru WRX STi RS500 Coupe

Just a bit of fun for this Friday afternoon – a potential WRX STi Coupe. We have called it the RS500 in a nod to the previous Impreza RS Coupe of the 1990s, with the 500 a power ooutput of this rally-prepped turbo engine. The exterior changes are extensive, but we aimed for production feasibility over other-worldly style. To this end, the windshield rake stays almost exactly the same, as do the front doors and other hard points up front. Obviously cut out the rear doors, and shortened the wheelbase by five inches to make the RS500 Coupe pivot a …

PART TWO: 2016 Audi S Q3 Rendering – Future 4.9-second Sport Compact Crossover

2016 Audi S Q3 PART TWO… Mercedes-Benz seems relatively confident with the GLA45 AMG as the one engine upgrade to the GLA250 series, and the GLA45 AMG will make its way well past $55,000 with a few options packages. So what is the Audi of America counter-strategy? Not the full-blown RS Q3, but a car with nearly all the affordable performance and speed enhancements, but with the S Q3 label instead. This is a great alternative. Simply boosting the power levels of the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine in the top Q3 and adding standard quattro AWD will work wonders for the …

Future Truck Rendering – 2016 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG Black Series

The G-Class Mercedes-Benz must be made until 2017 at the earliest to meet a contract with the German goverment and military. After that, the fate of this big beast is unknown and likely uncertain. So let’s send everyone’s favorite posh SUV workhorse out in style! A lowered roof, altered windowline, chopped tail section and lower ride height round out the changes in profile. Oh, and the spare tire is now inside the cabin. 2016 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG Black Series – rendering 2014 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG In front, a similar lower/wider strategy is utilized — with wider rubber and fender flares …

2014 ZENVO ST1 Colorizer Shows Potential of Crisp, Lean and Aggressive Design in 40 Colors

2014 ZENVO ST1 Colorizer Shows Potential of Crisp, Lean and Aggressive Design in 40 Colors We’re huge fans of the ZENVO ST1 here at Car-Revs-Daily. The ST1’s design is amazing – clean and pure but quite aggressive and obviously exotic from all angles. With pricing at or above a million dollars, the ZENVO team is of course open to custom orders. With that in mind, we took to Photoshop to imagine the ST1 in some classic and ultra-modern hypercar colors. It really looks outstanding in all the yellows and a few of the neon greens. 2014 ZENVO ST1 Colorizer   …

Rendered Mashup – GMC Denali Plus Rolls-Royce Wraith

These are nothing more than simple entertainment – there is no link between GMC and Rolls-Royce today, and both brands would likely be horrified by the results shown here. But a cross-breed can be fun to explore visually: Simply because it is so outside the norm – so unlike anything you see on a daily basis. In that fun and silly and non-speculative note, here is a rough, rough mix of Rolls-Royce Wraith and GMC All Terrain and Denali styling — on one mutant vehicle. The more I look at these, the less I want to publish them…. But so …

Fixing the Acura Woodchuck Nose Is Easy – Speculative Design Renderings Without Shield Nose Piece

It is not fun to review a car that … is … not living up to its potential. Many cars that should be good are not. Design is important from my vantage because I have not been wined/dined on some swanky launch event. Those types of personal relationships with the people behind the car tend to water down most of the harsh critiques. But your humble scribe must share these views on behalf of you, the little guy! Little guy? C’mon now. Big Boss Hog is more like it! Car buyers make or break any brand — not the writing …

Rendered Speculation — 2015 INFINITI Q70L Coming to New York Show with Revised Q70 and QX80

Big news this week from Infiniti, which will debut revised versions of the QX70 Q70 and QX80 SUVs, formerly known as the FX M and QX. The look is highly likely to reflect the latest QX60 and Q50 styles — but there is a nugget of interesting info here as well. The new QX70 Q70 will debut a LWB version promising five extra inches of legroom in back!  This will make it very commodious versus the pinched-glass version today. So, in …

Speculative Renderings – 2016 Cadillac Escalade V – How Does 650HP ZR1 Supercharged 6.2-liter V8 Sound?

Guess who does not like renderings one bit? Manufacturers….!  A great Escalade buyers guide article is in final draft form, and coming soon to actually drive sales versus just unique visitors to this news website. But as long as I’m burning bridges shore to shore… A Cadillac Escalade V-Series? The idea is a bit tough to fathom or accept at first, but is a firm fit with buyer wants in this segment. One look at the aftermarket or even the GL63 AMG shows that once cost is no object, buyers often simply want it all. Light off-road ability plus a …

Racing Evolution 1968-1970 – Alfa Romeo T33 Mugello, T33/2 LeMans + T33/4 Tasman

This is part two of the Alfa Romeo endurance racer showcase. These long-tail machinesdirectly evolved from the original Tipo 33 Periscopo and Stradale prototypes – but made huge changes. Far less glass lowers the center of mass, while aerodynamic ground effects became a critical part of racing. This put an end to the smooth flowing surfaces of the curvy 1967 T33 Stradale and its siblings. The Tipo 33 series diverged in 1969 in anticipation of rule changes in the 1970s that would prefer an open cockpit layout. Yes, for trivia buffs, Le Mans has alternated between open and closed cars …
