In the run-up to the second pre-regatta of the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup 2027, scheduled for September 24–27, Alfa Romeo unveils a new special edition that bridges dockside and asphalt: Edizione Luna Rossa, offered on the Junior, Tonale, Giulia, and Stelvio, and positioned at the pinnacle of each model’s lineup.
Following the ultra-exclusive Giulia Quadrifoglio Luna Rossa, limited to ten units and already sold out, this new Edizione Luna Rossa markedly broadens the partnership between the Turin brand and the Luna Rossa team. And beyond the color scheme, there’s a genuine technological collaboration woven into the fabric of these cars.
A common Luna Rossa identity, from Junior to Stelvio
The first distinct signature is a exclusive red Alfa Romeo logo and a color palette inspired by Luna Rossa’s ships. Here, white, black, gray, and red converse in a deliberate dialogue. On the Junior and Tonale, a new gray shade mirrors the hue of the crew’s inflatable gear, with optional white or black bodies. A Luna Rossa stripe runs along the flanks, while a Glossy Black body kit heightens the contrast. Wheel sizes complete the signature: 18 inches on Junior, 19 inches on Giulia, 20 inches on Tonale, and 21 inches on Stelvio.
Inside, the atmosphere remains dark and sporty, animated by red accents and Luna Rossa logos. The Junior and Tonale debut seats in 3D Knit technology. That is, a three-dimensional textile woven from a continuous filament, designed to minimize fabric shedding while delivering a structured pattern evocative of activewear. A first for Stellantis.
Giulia and Stelvio lean into exclusivity with a monochrome interior blending leather and 100% recycled fabric, sourced notably from nets recovered at sea, and with broad carbon fiber inserts.
“Alfa Romeo and Luna Rossa are two authentic expressions of Italian excellence, united by a shared ambition: to continuously prove the world their unflinching ability to innovate and their pursuit of uncompromising performance. This partnership goes far beyond sport. It feeds on expertise, technologies, and a common vision, aimed at pushing boundaries at every turn. Today, in Naples, on the road to the first America’s Cup organized in Italy, the bond takes on an even stronger dimension. The new Edizione Luna Rossa represents the most tangible expression of that spirit, translating onto the road the pride and passion that define Made in Italy on the world stage” said Santo Ficili, CEO of Alfa Romeo and Maserati.
Engines, equipment and the technological bond with Luna Rossa
On the compact models, Junior and Tonale, this special edition blends design with cutting-edge technology. The Alfa Romeo Junior Edizione Luna Rossa reuses the core components of the group’s lineup. It offers a 1.2-liter turbocharged hybrid engine delivering 145 horsepower, paired with a six-speed automatic eDCT, available in front-wheel drive or in a Q4 all-wheel-drive configuration. A 100% electric version, 115 kW (156 hp), powered by a 54 kWh battery, rounds out the lineup.
The Tonale carries over its broader engine range: a 1.6-liter diesel delivering 130 horsepower, a 1.5-liter turbo hybrid delivering 175 horsepower, and a 270-horsepower Plug-In Hybrid Q4 that combines a 1.3-liter petrol engine with an electric motor and all-wheel drive. Both SUVs come with a well-appointed equipment list. They feature the Alfa Connect system with a 10.25-inch touchscreen, a digital “Cannocchiale” instrument cluster, keyless access and start, heated upholstery, electrically foldable mirrors, and the latest driver-assistance technologies, from intelligent adaptive cruise control to automated emergency braking.
Giulia and Stelvio Edizione Luna Rossa epitomize the most exclusive facet of this collection. Externally, they are distinguished by a carbon front bumper, carbon-fiber mirrors sporting the Luna Rossa logo, and red Alfa logos; Giulia adds Quadrifoglio-inspired side skirts and a rear spoiler. Dark-finished wheels with red calipers measure 19 inches on Giulia and 21 inches on Stelvio. Under the hood, you’ll find the 2.2-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel, offered in 160 horsepower for rear-drive, or 210 horsepower with Q4 all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic. Standard features include a Harman Kardon audio system, electronically controlled suspension, and a power sunroof.
In Italy, the pricing signals the high-end positioning: from €37,800 to €46,650 for the Junior (roughly $40,800–$50,400), €48,950 to €60,350 for the Tonale (roughly $52,900–$65,000), €71,250 to €76,250 for the Giulia (roughly $76,900–$82,600), and €73,350 to €78,350 for the Stelvio (roughly $79,000–$84,600).
