Toyota TR010 Hybrid Recreates Iconic Cars Scene on Fuji Road

September 24, 2026

On a highway swallowed by night, a truck hauls a hypercar inside a glass-walled trailer. Around it, a lineup of ultra-tuned Japanese coupes forms an escort. You might think you’re watching a cut from Cars or a Fast & Furious reel. In fact, it’s the FIA World Endurance Championship’s latest clip, built to tease its Fuji stop. In the spotlight is the Toyota TR010 Hybrid No. 7, the Le Mans-winning machine from 2026, taking center stage. This season, it handed Toyota its sixth Le Mans victory, and for the first time it defeated a truly formidable Hypercar field.

The spot has the FIA World Endurance Championship re-creating a classic Cars moment with Toyota. It’s primarily a prelude to bringing the Le Mans-winning TR010 Hybrid to the Fuji Speedway. The circuit, owned by Toyota, will host the 6 Hours of Fuji 2026 at the end of September. The car will be displayed by the pitwall, while its racing sisters will be elsewhere, chasing titles. The contrast between the Pixar homage and the nods to Fast & Furious is striking. It sits atop a genuine, ongoing duel between Toyota and BMW for global crowns, offering a plot worth digging into as this convoy tale unfolds.

From Le Mans triumph to the homecoming at Fuji

In June, Toyota Racing’s TR010 Hybrid No. 7 delivered its sixth Le Mans triumph for the manufacturer. The 94th running of the Sarthe classic took place June 13–14, 2026. The five earlier wins had come with surprisingly little direct opposition. In 2026, Toyota faced a full Hypercar grid, with Ferrari, Porsche, BMW and others in attendance. That makes this victory feel especially meaningful for the brand. Since the checkered flag, the winning car has become a genuine museum piece, Road & Track notes.

For the 6 Hours of Fuji, scheduled from September 25 to 27, 2026, Toyota and the championship agreed to spotlight the legacy once more. The Le Mans winner will travel to the brand’s own Fuji circuit, just a short drive from the Higashi-Fuji technical hub where its powertrain is developed. The FIA WEC sums up the plan on its social channels with a clean line: “A special cargo deserves a special convoy, the Toyota family gathering in Tokyo to bring its Le Mans-winning TR010 Hybrid to Fuji,” the series explains on X, as cited by Autosport.pt. While this particular car will be parked on the edge of the track, two other TR010 Hybrids will take the starting grid. They’ll continue the pursuit of a new world title for Toyota, Road & Track notes. Ahead of Fuji, the Japanese brand carries seven points of separation over BMW in the manufacturers’ standings. The crew that won at Le Mans shares the lead of the drivers’ standings with BMW’s No. 20 team from WRT, and there are three rounds left on the schedule to settle the title chase for all involved.

When the FIA WEC replays a Cars scene with Toyota

To announce this homecoming, the championship leaned on a concept video with a straightforward, nostalgic vibe. The idea: riff on a well-known sequence from the first Cars movie. In Pixar’s film, a truck called Mack carries Lightning McQueen to his next race, only to be swarmed by souped-up cars that circle around him, lulling him to sleep so the precious cargo can slip away and set the plot in motion. The WEC clip isn’t a frame-for-frame remake; it’s a confident reimagining. On a Japanese highway, a heavy hauler accelerates toward Fuji Speedway, with the TR010 Hybrid riding in a transparent trailer. A quartet of customized Toyotas—Supra, GR86, FR-S, and a sedan styled after the Chaser—flank the rig. The truck’s navigation display clearly shows Fuji as the destination. The official caption spices the wink with references to both Pixar and Fast & Furious. The message channels a Fast & Furious-style headline: “The Fast… and the Car That Won Le Mans.” Then a zippy line that captures endurance racing’s spirit: “A quarter mile? We do six hours…,” the FIA WEC posts on X.

In a separate post, the championship’s account greeted fans with a simple “Hello, Japan….” Toyota doubles down on Fuji’s dedicated page, highlighting the Le Mans-winning entrant as part of a mini-tour. “Celebrating the win at Le Mans — the winning TR010 HYBRID heads out on tour,” the maker notes on Toyota-Racing.com. The video has already racked up millions of views and tens of thousands of likes across X, Instagram, and Reddit, according to fan reposts tracked by followers. It’s a full-scale trailer: the Le Mans winner should be visible to spectators lining Fuji’s trackside. Whether the road cars shown in the spot will also make the trip remains to be seen. This nocturnal convoy has already set the tone for the race scheduled at the foot of Mount Fuji.
