Citroën has just added another string to its marketing bow—because that’s precisely what this is—by equipping three of its models with a new version called Outdoor.
Citroëns That Pretend to Be 4x4s
The principle isn’t revolutionary: for as long as we can remember, or almost, automakers know that sometimes a few aesthetic attributes borrowed from the 4×4 world are enough to spark a craving for escape in buyers. On the C3 and the C3 Aircross, this new Outdoor variant sits above the fully loaded Max trim, and it leans mainly on the look. Both vehicles inherit new bumpers, a broad gray piece resembling a skid plate, and Infra Red touches that dress the body, along with 17-inch alloy wheels in a fresh design. A new shade, dubbed Sequoia Green, rounds out the lineup. On the inside, the ambiance aims to be just as special: Advanced Comfort seats adopt a unique design with red stitching, and seat belts in the same hue. The C3, for its part, gains front parking sensors. Of course, don’t expect these Outdoor versions to mimic real off-roaders. The updates remain largely cosmetic and focus strictly on equipment, not on the mechanical underpinnings.
The Ami Outdoor Is the Most Whimsical
The Citroën ë-C3 Outdoor thus remains powered by its 113-horsepower electric motor and its announced range of 323 km. The ë-C3 Aircross Outdoor, meanwhile, is offered only with the “extended-range” battery, which lets it boast a driving radius of 397 km. The SUV sets itself apart from the city car with functional roof rails and LED fog lights. It’s really on the Citroën Ami side that the transformation takes a more thrilling turn. This limited Outdoor series adopts a Khaki Green shade that looks striking, white wheels, a decal collection, and a small rear spoiler to finish the look. Most notably, the Ami Outdoor debuts a sunroof on a version equipped with hard doors. An option that until now was exclusively reserved for the Ami Buggy, the most adventurous variant in the lineup. For an extra dash of whimsy! Citroën has also revised the interior, with specific seats, red seat belts matching the rest of the Outdoor lineup, and several storage accessories. For now, Citroën has not released pricing information for these three new Outdoor variants.
