Zeekr 001 Prepares for Evolution, Reveals First Technical Detail

November 4, 2026

On paper, it hasn’t even turned two years old in China before its replacement is already peeking around the corner. An official homologation document in China reveals that Geely’s large electric shooting brake is about to undergo a deep evolution, all while keeping its unmistakable shooting-brake styling. For fans of technical data, this kind of leak is enough to raise an eyebrow.

Because this filing with Chinese authorities does more than confirm a launch in the first quarter of 2027. It also drops a key initial figure and signals a battery chemistry change for this model, which is none other than the Zeekr 001 2027. The update is presented as visually discreet, but far more ambitious under the floor and at the charging port, which changes everything for a large electric family hauler.

Zeekr 001 2027: What the MIIT filing in China reveals

The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has listed the updated Zeekr 001 in its 413th catalog of new models, open to public comments from November 4 to 10. This mandatory step for any new vehicle sold in China confirms that the 001 will remain a large electric vehicle, listed as a sedan but still flirting with a five-meter-long shooting-brake silhouette. Official measurements range from 4,977 to 5,029 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,545 or 1,533 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,005 mm.

The images attached to the file show a rear end in line with the current model, featuring a full-width taillight strip, a sign that Zeekr didn’t feel the need to upend a silhouette that’s already highly recognizable. Under the skin, however, the document confirms a single rear-mounted motor, coded TZ230XYC04, rated for a maximum power of 370 kW, or 496 hp. The top speed is listed at 240 km/h (about 149 mph) or 280 km/h (about 174 mph) depending on the version, with a kerb weight ranging from 2,350 to 2,420 kg (about 5,177 to 5,328 lb). All told, it reminds us we’re talking about a large, high-performance electric, but one that’s also impressively substantial.

Batteries and ultra-fast charging for the forthcoming Zeekr 001

The same filing confirms that the new model will adopt an LFP (lithium-iron-phosphate) battery, with cells supplied by Energee, the Geely group’s energy division. This type of battery is renowned for its robustness, thermal stability, and typically lower cost—qualities that appeal to high-mileage drivers and fleet operators alike. However, there is no information provided on the exact pack capacity or the targeted range: no specifics are given on this topic in the Chinese dossier, leaving a degree of mystery around this 2027 model.

The brand has already indicated that the Zeekr 001 2027 would retain its 900 V electrical architecture, a choice that paves the way for very rapid charging. Geely unveiled its Geely Smart Charging technology in September, testing it on the Lynk & Co 10 and a Zeekr 001 equipped with the Shendun Golden Battery: according to the maker, those models can move from 10% to 70% in 4 minutes and 30 seconds, and from 10% to 97% in 8 minutes and 40 seconds. By contrast, the current Zeekr 001 in China is already touted to go 10% to 80% in 7 minutes, while the European version still relies on a 400 V architecture with a DC fast-charging peak of 200 kW and a 10–80% time of roughly 30 minutes. For now, there are no details about the possible arrival of the 001 2027 and this ultra-fast charging on the European market.
