Nearly 620 Miles on a Single Charge: Skoda Peaq Electric Family SUV Sets Records

September 8, 2026

The Skoda Peaq is the Czech brand’s new seven-seat electric SUV, a flagship for Skoda that’s growing more and more central within the Volkswagen Group. As its launch nears, the Skoda Peaq has just set a range record for a seven-seater, pushing toward nearly 1,000 kilometers on a single charge.

Nearly 1,000 km on a single charge

1,000 km is a figure automakers strive for in electric-vehicle range, often tied to steep price tags. A Lucid Air offering up to 900 km of range will soon be on sale in France for more than €100,000, and the BMW i3 is similarly positioned around the €80,000 mark. Yet, the Skoda Peaq, the Czech maker’s 7-seat SUV, has just nudged toward 1,000 km of range on a single charge.

The record is precisely certified at 936 km without a recharge. This makes it the longest-range record for a family-oriented 7-seat EV. A strong data point for Skoda, which is aiming squarely at active families with its Peaq SUV.

But how did a SUV with an official maximum WLTP range of 647 km using its 91 kWh battery manage to achieve such endurance?

But where is the secret to this level of range?

The naysayers wonder if Skoda might have bent the rules a little for this Peaq range record: it’s nearly 150% of the WLTP range. But these results come in real-world conditions. To achieve them, a two-engineer driving duo, Jakub Krs and Marek Jež, selected a route that favored secondary roads to avoid slowdowns and embraced exemplary eco-driving.

Indeed, like any vehicle, an electric car consumes more during accelerations. A steady, smooth cruise at around 70 km/h (~43 mph) produces very low consumption. On this record run, the Skoda Peaq consumed only 9.2 kWh/100 km, a figure even lower than the official rating of a Renault Twingo. This proves that, when used properly, an electric car can be remarkably energy-efficient.

The choice of powertrain isn’t incidental: Skoda selected the version with the lowest consumption. It’s the 90 version of the Peaq with a single rear-mounted motor delivering 286 horsepower and the small catalog wheels, namely 19 inches. This setup achieves the best range in the lineup, at 647 km claimed.

The most interesting part of all this is that consumers can buy a family car that has a range record. The Skoda Peaq is available to order in France, starting at €56,460 in this same version.
