On June 1, 2026, the second year in which Ibiza will limit vehicle circulation on its roads comes into effect. With this measure the Ibiza City Council aims to reduce the impact of tourism on traffic, and this year the cap has been reduced even further: this summer and the following one, 17,668 vehicles per day will be allowed to enter Ibiza, 2,500 fewer than the previous summer.
The restriction period will apply from June 1 to September 30. And beware because non-compliance with this regulation may result in fines of up to €10,000.

How many cars will be able to enter the island
According to local sources, the gradual reduction of vehicles will take place over five years: the daily cap in 2026 is 17,668 vehicles per day: 14,000 will be allocated to rental cars (2,000 fewer than in 2025), while 3,548 will be for tourists and 120 for residents of Formentera. When this figure is exceeded, shipping companies will not be able to authorize the entry of more cars into Ibiza until the number is reduced again.
When is authorization mandatory
Between June 1 and September 30, it is mandatory to request authorization in Ibiza Circular due to the car restrictions in Ibiza in the following cases:
- Passenger cars and private vehicles of non-residents.
- Motorhomes: In addition to the permit, travelers must prove a reservation at a campsite, because parking on rustic land is prohibited.
- Remember that as a tourist you do not have to request any authorization or pay fees if you rent the car directly from a company on the island. It is the rental agencies themselves that manage these permits directly with the local government.

How to apply for authorization to enter and drive in Ibiza
- If you purchase a round-trip ticket with the same ferry operator: the process and quota management are automatically carried out during the ticket purchase.
- If you travel only with a one-way ticket or in special cases: you must request your authorization and pay the fee through the official IbizaCircular.es website.
- Caravans, motorhomes and vehicles/living spaces that want to request a quota must submit the application through the entrance registry at the Consell d’Eivissa electronic headquarters, attaching the corresponding round-trip ticket and the camping reservation certificate.
How much does the vehicle fee cost
If your vehicle needs authorization to be able to visit Ibiza by car this summer, the platform will automatically assign the type of authorization that corresponds to your situation:
- Long stay: 19 days or more on the island (1 Jan – 15 Nov). Pay the fee only for the days in-season (€1 per day).
- Vehicle with ECO or zero-emission badge. ECO/ZERO regime within the quota system
- Rest of vehicles not exempt. Standard daily rate during the season.
The standard rate is €1 per day, and you can access the authorization application here.
Who is exempt from processing authorization

- Vehicles with a round-trip ticket contracted with the same ferry operator.
- Residents with a fiscal address in Ibiza. Note that those who, although they reside in Ibiza, do not have their car registered in the island’s circulation tax will have to regularize their vehicle’s status.
- Vehicles under Leasing or Renting: if the holder is a resident of Ibiza, they are fully treated as owned vehicles (they must provide the contract and linkage in the Consell’s electronic office).
- Official vehicles, freight transport, agricultural machinery, etc.
- Motorbikes
- Public services and emergencies: security forces, ambulances, firefighters, medical vehicles and public transport.
From these, documentation must be provided:
- Non-residents with a home in Ibiza (one vehicle per holder with a fiscal address in Ibiza)
- Residents in Formentera, Menorca or Mallorca for work reasons. Residents on Mallorca, Menorca or Formentera who travel to Ibiza for work do not pay the fee, but must register and present a valid work contract
- People with reduced mobility
- Vehicles in transit to/from Formentera
A system of cameras, transport inspectors and municipal police will monitor that all vehicles circulating on the island have authorization. The fine for caravans and motorhomes can reach up to €30,000.
