Gas Prices Today: March 30

April 24, 2026

On Friday, for the first time since the reduced VAT on fuels was implemented, prices began to fall: there have been four consecutive sessions in which average prices opened slightly lower than the day before. Refueling a full tank of gasoline today costs about €69 on average, and a tank of diesel a little over €83.

Nevertheless, they remain higher than before the Iran conflict, a war that has tightened global oil trade and pushed Brent crude higher. Over this weekend, crude also declined, dropping below $100 per barrel for the first time in a month and a half of gains. Today it rose slightly again.

FUEL TODAY YESTERDAY MAXIMUM

Unleaded 98 1.685 1.686 2.311
Diesel A 1.856 1.858 2.106

AutoGas/GLP 0.998 0.998 1.058

It is worth noting that the average prices in the table refer to the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands; however, as is often the case, fuel prices also vary between service stations. The gap between refueling at an expensive or a cheaper gas station can exceed 15 euro-cents per liter.

Aside from the international quote, a large portion of what we pay per liter goes to taxes (€0.472/l for gasoline and €0.379/l for diesel). The temporary relief for drivers comes from the VAT portion, kept at 10%; an extraordinary tax break designed to shield wallets from the volatility caused by the Iran war.

As a backdrop, the European crude benchmark Brent is edging higher today, trading at $102.21 per barrel. This figure, combined with an exchange rate of $0.8560 per euro, largely shapes the bill that Spanish consumers will face at the pump today.
