Acura Teases 2024 ZDX EV Ahead Of Monterey, ZDX Will Spearhead Acura’s EV Future

Acura revealed late last year that it would be joining the EV ranks and even confirmed that the axed ZDX nameplate will be given a second chance at life for the new EV. However, we haven’t heard much since, but the Japanese luxury brand is changing that with a new preview image of the ZDX, which sheds new light on some of the finer details.

Precision Styling Mixes With ZDX Production Reality

The new teaser image reveals that the ZDX will take some of its cues from the Precision concept CUV. While the look here is toned down from the wild traits that defined the concept, the ZDX will still comply with Acura’s design language. That includes adding a shield-shaped grille panel and headlights that are similar to other Acura models we have seen, including the recently launched Integra lineup. The profile of the ZDX is more conventional than Acura’s first attempt at it, and it’s clear that the ZDX is willing to explore new styling boundaries, but not overtly cross the line like the odd-looking ICE version did before it was axed due to lagging sales.

Acura is still not ready to show the interior yet, but it’s known that the model will come with a Google-infused infotainment system and share some of its cues with the Honda Prologue EV crossover in core design. However, in Acura tradition, look for the EV to swap out some of the Honda’s cheaper materials for higher-end trappings, including leather as well as suede inserts in the Type S. Performance specs weren’t released either, but the ZDX and its Honda twin are the fruits of a partnership between Honda and General Motors with the latter’s Ultium battery technology providing the motivation for both models.

When Can I Buy One?

The 2024 Acura ZDX will make its formal debut on August 17th in Monterey. Sales will begin next year, and we hope to hear more about final performance figures as well as a final pricing ladder for both the base model and the range-topping Type S variant.
