EcoBoost is coming on-line in a big way! The popularity and roll-out of turbo Ford engines owes a big thanks to this SHO — the first intercooled twin-turbo Ford in decades.

With the announcement of the F-150 this month, Ford confirmed that a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 will join the truck line-up. The 6.0-liter V8 is replaced by a 5.0-liter delivering similar power, but no turbo V8’s yet.

That is when the SHO will get really, really exciting!

For now, this is a huge and comfortable car that also has big passing power and sprint pace on demand.

As a volume segment for Ford, the Taurus received some only minor updates and tweaks for 2014. The lower-priced models now benefit from much of the chassis tuning and extra poise from the 365-horsepower SHO and even an optional turbo four that is new-for-2014.

The SHO comes with only a handful of options, and stickers at about $45,000 out the door.

Buyers should be able to negotiate a big discount on any list price this time of year, however. In addition, the Taurus is due for a refresh within calendar 2014 — so this might be the time to get a great deal on an AWD turbo limo.

The Taurus also adds the Escape’s well-liked 2.0-liter turbo four as the new base engine, producing 240 horsepower and 32 MPG highway in front-drive models.

Ford makes space a luxury feature.

You can do arm circles in the front seat, the back is huge… just such a large and spacious cabin versus previous Ford sedans, which tended to have protruding door panels and other oddities inside.
