Top 4 Hardcore Off-Road Debuts – Los Angeles 2017 Auto Showfloor

LA is lousy with soft-roaders this year. There are at least a half dozen softroad compacts all the way to plush 7-seaters. But that is not our goal here. Here we will tease out the top four serious off-road vehicles to make their debuts or appearances at LA Automobility 2017. Special shoutouts to the very-cool foot porthole in the door of the Wrangler. Frankfurt IAA 2017 – MASERATI and FERRARI Showfloor Gallery

Ferrari and Maserati had packed stands at Frankfurt this year! The expansion into Maserati SUVs with the Levante will probably single-handedly be able to lift trident sales massively in its first year. Maserati is rolling out semi-refreshed Ghibli and GranTurismo models for 2018. But they are pretty light facelifts to the grilles outside and the infotainment systems inside. Ghibli also bags new LEDs for the headlamps — something the MC Stradale needs pretty urgently too. Some real hotties in here! The first pics of the all-new VFL Force 1 concept by Henrik Fisker are a highlight. As are the Nissan TITAN Warrior Concept and the Raptor Supercrew in frozen white. Also nice to see more angles of the Acura Precision Concept, a car whose design is really expressive and deep in real-life photos versus the initial renders. Yes, auto shows are an incredible rush for car lovers: a deluge of new and never-before-seen metal. Scooping even the online mavens, the Porsche Mission E and Mercedes-Benz IAA Concept stayed completely under wraps until their stage reveals. All-new ideas, names and previews of the future will always be a highlight of the shows for the attendees. But for a car hack, covering auto shows is a thankless task. The press days move 400-or-so journalists in lock step between press conferences. Spaced in about 15-minute intervals, the conferences are DULL but suck up 90-percent of your time in pre-show days. …

#NYIAS 2015 – Day Two Showfloor Gallery + Best and Worst Debuts!

Press preview days are wrapped on a very eventful New York International Auto Show – with big reveals from Cadillac, Chevy, Lincoln, Nissan, Kia, Lexus, , Porsche, Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi and McLaren. Best in show? We’d vote for the Honda Civic Coupe Concept. The new Chevy Malibu is also mighty impressive, while the Cadillac CT6 requires closer inspection than is possible in just a brief glimpse. Mercedes-Benz dominated the World Car Awards (whatever those are) with wins for the C-Class, S-Class Coupe and AMG GT. BMW and Audi did not even bother to hold press conferences, oddly. Geneva 2015 Showfloor – Toyota Rolls Out New Avensis + TS040 Hybrid Racecar

Toyota’s big news for the Geneva show this year is the new Avensis sedan in wagon — both of which are available in Hybrid versions. The fuel-cell 2016 Mirai is also represented, along with the 2015 WEC Champion racecar: the TS040 Hybrid. We have not yet seen Toyota Motorsport GmbH’s 2015 entry, which is likely to be updated modestly versus the car shown here. Seeing a full LMP1 car in person is almost always exciting, though. Peugeot actually has alot of new metal for 2015: the 308 and 508 GT are fresh, low and sexy designs with more appeal than any French mainstream car in memory.
