2017 Ford GT – Rendered COLORS Visualizer in 20 New Shades

Updated 4.6.16 with New Photos and Digitally-Rendered Images Instead of the hundreds of custom shades and multiple angles, we only have a handful of digitally-rendered color options for the exciting Ford GT supercar. Why? It has been a long week of many frantic Detroit reveals, and Photoshop prefers to crash right when you are in the middle of something great. =] We are still trying to perfect a color—> black or color —> white transformation, but it is not easy to accomplish with respectable results. But was it a total loss? Not at all! Many of the new colors are …

Spec Renderings – 500HP 2018 Volvo XC80 Polestar

It has been quite a while since a new Volvo stirred as much excitement as the 2016 XC90. The truck is absolutely miraculous, and an exciting new corporate re-alignment will see most of the XC90’s style and PHEV tech filter down throughout the range. The new S90 limo kicks things off, followed by (we predict) a lightly facelifted XC60 mid-size crossover. Beyond that, we have new S60/S70 models on the mid-term horizon — with the first Charleston, SC-built sedans set for a summer 2017 arrival as 2018 model-years. But if we were Volvo… what is the first possible thing to …

Spec Renderings – 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC400 Is Upcoming Q5-Fighter

The new GLC Coupe Concept from Shanghai shows how the Mercedes SUV range is evolving rapidly. The new naming strategy and product plans from the GLE and GLE Coupe show the way forward for Merc trucks — and that pattern is likely on this smaller GLC as well. As the China concept is the GLC Coupe, it is logical to think that the coupe is the X4-fighter, while a standard GLC-Class will tackle the X3 and Q5. To recap, the Mercedes SUV range is currently: GLA GLK (now actually called GLC…) GLE GLE Coupe GLS G-Class The ML-replacing GLE-Class is …

Digital Renderings – StarTech Range Rover 6×6 Long-Box Pickup in 2 Angles + 30 Colors

A bit of silliness here. We wondered aloud about the StarTech Range Rover Pickup this morning having a longer box in back. A light joke about a 6×6 version, a la the KAHN Design Huntsman Defender, has now been rendered for your viewing pleasure. Pretty cool! =] StarTech Range Rover 6×6 Pickup Digital Renderings     PREVIOUSWe love German tuners. Just putting it out there. Wildly inventive with fantastic production values, style for days and exclusivity to beat all others? That would be the latest StarTech Range Rover from the Brabus JLR line. Future Supercar Renderings – 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Sedan

There are a few realities to consider when asking: is this Z06 Sedan likely or even possible in the future? The first: Many Corvette fans have pined over a four-door version for as long as the car has been around — since 1953, then. The second fact: Chevrolet has long sought to imbue its regular models with Corvette-like traits. Corvette engines in the Impala SS, anecdotes galore about the new Cadillac CTS-V being a ‘Corvette with four doors,’ etc. Chevrolet is back on the Corvette love parade lately, with many future models like the Volt and Malibu said to benefit …

Fantasy ChopTop Renders – 2015 Mercedes S63 AMG is BOSS

For the S63, we explored a few cab-backward ideas as well as a simple roofline cut. But could this be yours on the aftermarket, even with a big-bucks upgrade like the Mansory seen in the profile images? A chop-top conversion is one of the hardest to handle with OEM quality. A widebody is almost exclusively an exterior upgrade, but a chopped roofline requires some serious changes. Roll cages, electronics, cabin trims, doors, doorframes and glass all need to be redone. Not exactly something you can eyeball along the way, or carbon-fiber your way out of CAD-CAM studies in advance. But …

Best of 2014 Awards – Toyota FT-1 Concept Is Stunning Design Triumph

Update 3 11.27.14 Has there been another concept with the impact of the FT-1? We cannot think of another vehicle this year that has created more buzz. Of course, the FT-1 is just the leading edge of what many hope will become a showroom supercar in the next few years under the vaulted Supra badge. Toyota’s collaboration with BMW on a future sports-car appears to indicate the eventual Supra will be based of a version of the BMW Z4’s chassis, albeit highly modified for a possible production debut of a hybrid-R electric boost setup. Primary power is expected to come …

Spec Rendering – 2016 Subaru WRX STi RS500 Coupe

Just a bit of fun for this Friday afternoon – a potential WRX STi Coupe. We have called it the RS500 in a nod to the previous Impreza RS Coupe of the 1990s, with the 500 a power ooutput of this rally-prepped turbo engine. The exterior changes are extensive, but we aimed for production feasibility over other-worldly style. To this end, the windshield rake stays almost exactly the same, as do the front doors and other hard points up front. Obviously cut out the rear doors, and shortened the wheelbase by five inches to make the RS500 Coupe pivot a …

Digital Renderings Fix the 2009 Aston Martin LAGONDA SUV Concept

This is a light update to the previous LAGONDA article, but one that is best as a distinct piece to avoid confusion. As identified below, the nose and tail of the Lagonda SUV concept were its biggest problems. The make it hard to love. FIXED NOSE RENDERINGS The grille is far too large and far too bright. During a few hours in Photoshop, we have identified the eggcrate grille design as the true fault up front. It makes this Lagonda look like a Chrysler Sebring — which is not a flattering comparison for a superlux SUV. We have made the …

Toyota FT-1 Vision GT Now Playable in Gran Turismo! 100 New Dynamic Photos

Updated 9.16.14 Art Imitates Life. Life Imitates Art. Such a truism is very valid in the case of the FT-1 – which Toyota has just teased in its next form as a hard-core (virtual) racing special. The FT-1 Vision Gran Turismo differs from the road-going version of the car in many standard race-ready ways. Starting from the front: there is a much deeper aero package and chin spoiler, easy-off hood panels with racing latches, upgrades brakes and tires and huge fender-top slats to reduce any trapped air from the wheels. These slats drastically reduce under-hood temps as well as being …

Toyota FT-1 Concept Version Two – World Debut at Pebble Beach in 99 High-Res Photos

UPDATED with 99 high-res, real-life photos 8.17.14 The most striking things about the FT-1 in person are its captivating beauty, extremely long-hooded proportions, and intense aero detailing. The headlight units themselves are exposed LED laser lenses, while the lower radiator fans are event more prominent on version two of the car versus version one. Another striking observation that we missed on the red Detroit debut car? The FT-1 is a 2+2!  There are rear seats and a rear strut-tower brace visible on this Pebble Beach car — which is one of the most popular on the concept lawns that also …

Toyota FT-1 Version Two Brings Sexy Gloss Grey, Aero Tweaks and Near-Production Cabin

Just when the FT-1 Vision Gran Turismo is building buzz – Toyota has doubled down on the future Supra joy with version two of this miraculous concept. The new color makes it much easier to enjoy and appreciate the FT-1;s huge panel swoops and shaping – with extra tweaks to the design from extensive time in the wind tunnels. All this bodes very, very well for the next Supra road car – which is widely believed to be in development with the FT-1 detailing at perhaps 95-percent of the final product. One thing…. ? We can’t help but notice that …

FT-1 Digital Colorizer – 150 Shades of 2016 TOYOTA SUPRA TURBO

Toyota has commissioned a second prototype in a new color, so we’ve helped render the stunning Detroit 2014 FT-1 concept in 100-plus other shades to help them pick. Sure, some are better than others. But totally changing the color of a car is not an easy thing to do! Nor is it a standard set of commands, even. Every photo is different in its needs. Surprising is the black – which looks amazing!  This is the color most of the final-gen Supra’s ended up after years …

Future Truck Rendering – 2016 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG Black Series

The G-Class Mercedes-Benz must be made until 2017 at the earliest to meet a contract with the German goverment and military. After that, the fate of this big beast is unknown and likely uncertain. So let’s send everyone’s favorite posh SUV workhorse out in style! A lowered roof, altered windowline, chopped tail section and lower ride height round out the changes in profile. Oh, and the spare tire is now inside the cabin. 2016 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG Black Series – rendering 2014 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG In front, a similar lower/wider strategy is utilized — with wider rubber and fender flares …

2014 ZENVO ST1 Colorizer Shows Potential of Crisp, Lean and Aggressive Design in 40 Colors

2014 ZENVO ST1 Colorizer Shows Potential of Crisp, Lean and Aggressive Design in 40 Colors We’re huge fans of the ZENVO ST1 here at Car-Revs-Daily. The ST1’s design is amazing – clean and pure but quite aggressive and obviously exotic from all angles. With pricing at or above a million dollars, the ZENVO team is of course open to custom orders. With that in mind, we took to Photoshop to imagine the ST1 in some classic and ultra-modern hypercar colors. It really looks outstanding in all the yellows and a few of the neon greens. 2014 ZENVO ST1 Colorizer   …

100 Color Renders of SSC Tuatara – Paint Test Proves Brilliance of Castriota Design

I really hope the news from this morning about SSC’s Tuatara being delayed indefinitely is not true. I really believe in this car, especially its design. Penned by Jason Castriota, it is simply breathtaking, timeless, unique and inspiring. But is it just that silvery white paint whipping me into a frenzy? Lord knows I love white cars these days. So to find out, we took to the Car-Revs-Daily.com exclusive “Candy Paint Shop” to render the Tuatara in as many lurid hues as possible. The results are below. Yes, it definitely passes the test color of also looking good in color…. …

Update1 Meet the Nissan Frontier Baja 1000 Upgrade from Fiberwerx – Best $1400 Nose and Fender Mods Ever?

Update from Josh Campbell, owner of this beast! Shipping and painting were both about $500 each, and the install was done by him in about one day. This requires some heavy/huge wrenches, as well as knowledge about bodywork repair — but can theoretically be done on a DIY basis for most guys. He said the most time was spent fabricating mounts for the new Titan headlamps as well as the hood mounting pins. Great results overall! A new high in lifted trucks? A new low in my automotive writing career? We saw this amazing Nissan Frontier on the way home …
