2020 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie Crew Cab 4×4 EcoDiesel by Ben Lewis

When we used to go to movie theaters (remember that?) our favorite large bucket of popcorn unapologetically wore the “Big is More” logo. You have to admire the honesty. And if a pickup truck ever deserved to have the Big is More graphic on it, it would be the 2020 Dodge Ram 1500. Big is Beautiful This is one gorgeous truck. And being a crew cab, it cuts a large swath wherever it goes. The massive front grille must look immense in the rearview mirror of traffic as pull up – other cars would scurry to get out of your …

Dodge Charger and Durango Pursuit: Models Teased Before Fall Unveiling

Dodge has made a very big splash this year, with the recent unveiling of the updated 2021 model lineup. The Durango in particular drew headlines for finally receiving the Hellcat treatment. You read that correctly, Dodge has created a limited edition Durango Hellcat with a 710 horsepower supercharged V8 lurking under the hood. But while that will certainly draw its fair share of attention, Dodge has not forgotten the broader members of its lineup, and has recently released a teaser image that previews both the 2021 Durango and Charger Pursuit models ahead of their respective debuts.   View this post …

2021 Dodge Charger Redeye: Brings Things Full Circle, 797 Horsepower Is Still Rad

When Dodge first unleashed the Challenger Redeye a few years ago, the world wondered whether the Charger would be allowed to take a bite out of the same forbidden fruit. The wait for it took longer than anticipated, but Dodge has now taken the wraps off of the 2021 Dodge Charger Redeye which aims to solidify its status in the muscle car wars. The Redeye is also out to stake Dodge’s claim of building the fastest production sedan in the entire world thanks to its 6.2 liter supercharged Hellcat V8. 2021 Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock: Is A Demon In Redeye Clothing

The Dodge Challenger has worn plenty of hats during its long and illustrious production run. But just when we think the decade old LY platform is reaching its limits, SRT engineers manage to extract more performance goodness from its well worn bones. In this instance, they have managed to once again establish a new pinnacle of performance, with the unveiling of the 2021 Dodge Challenger Super Stock. At its core, the Super Stock is a Redeye model that has received a power boost, with the car now making 807 horsepower (versus the outgoing model’s 797 horsepower.) It also benefits from …

Dodge: Teases 2021 Performance Lineup, Plays National Anthem With Hemi Engines

Dodge will have a very busy summer ahead of it. While the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the Woodward Dream Cruise, and the Roadkill Nights drag event that precedes it, Dodge customers are still enjoying there vehicles, and sales are still moving at such a pace, that Dodge will have to skip the traditional summer plant shutdown to meet demand. In addition, the 2021 Dodge model lineup will be making its way to dealerships soon, and the brand chose to tease it in grand style, with a unique rendition of the national anthem.   The anthem is part …

Dodge Puts The Brakes On Challenger ACR Rumors, Denies That It Is Building One

The world was a buzz last week when rumors appeared suggesting that Dodge was beginning development of an ACR version of its Challenger muscle car. With a badge last worn by the axed Dodge Viper and some of the aerodynamic magic that defined that curvaceous two door, the report certainly had all the essential details that many enthusiasts desired. However, according to Dodge, the rumors are not true, with the performance brand confirming that one is indeed not happening.   The confirmation came via a report from the publication Autoweek with the publication quoting an unidentified Dodge spokesman who was quoted …

Dodge Challenger Receiving ACR Model? New Report Suggests That It Would Be Benchmarked With Legendary Viper Sports Car

The Dodge Challenger has burned plenty of rubber, and in the process created a one of a kind legacy. It first appeared back in 2008, and it has soldiered on largely unchanged since then. While this means that the Challenger is truly ancient as far as automobiles are concerned, the muscle bound two door is also a modern success story of versatility, with the LY platform being perhaps one of the most versatile and adaptable platforms that we have ever seen in a FCA product. But while models like the SRT Hellcat, Demon (pictured,) and even the current Hellcat Redeye …

But for buyers that want to get in on the fun, but were either late to the party or deterred by the high price tag, Dodge has just now opened the order books for a new wave of Daytona Edition models according to the folks from Mopar Insiders. 2020 Dodge Charger GT Brings Four Season Capability To Dodge’s Musclecar Entry

When it comes to making lemonade out of squeezed lemons, few can top Dodge and their incredible ability to do just that with some of their models. One prominent example is the Dodge Charger, with the model last receiving a major refresh in 2015, with the updated platform tracing its roots back to 2011. While this makes the Charger an aging grizzled veteran in a sea of decidedly younger competitors. The Charger is defying the trend of slumping sedan sales, with the model actually recording a noticeable double digit increase in sales. This is the best sales performance in a …

Dodge Charger Product Manager, Ashton Munoz, details the upcoming 2020 Dodge Charger Hellcat Widebody to the media on July 31, 2019: I want to quickly talk about the overall Charger first, before we start getting into the Widebody, we’ve seen some great success with this car in the past few years. The past five years in retail, we’ve sold more chargers than any other standard full size car. In the past seven years, we’ve sold about 80,000 chargers per year. There’s a lot of chargers on the road. There’s a few things that we think that make this car pretty …

Road Test Review – 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack Widebody – By Carl Malek

When it comes to reliving your youth, there are very few vehicles that are able to do it so well like the Dodge Challenger. While it’s underpinnings are based on a Mercedes platform that was first given to Dodge during the shotgun marriage that was known as the Daimler-Chrysler era, that particular factoid has not stopped the burly two door from being an ongoing success for the brand. This is partially due to the sheer flexibility that exists in the LY platform itself, with Dodge engineers being able to seamlessly create numerous iterations of the Challenger over the years (including …

The SRT 392 Durango is by far the best-looking Durango produced to date. The SRT package takes the Durango from mundane to monstrous. As we spent more time with it, the Durango just kept growing on us to the point that we didn’t want to return it. Exterior It’s nice to know that the hood vents and scoop are real and have an actual purpose, something not seen on many vehicles today, performance or otherwise. The SRT 392 sits lower than the standard Durango and has a more aggressive stance with wider tires. The black dual racing stripes that run …

The Dodge Challenger Hellcat (and its four door cousin the Charger Hellcat) have been a sales success for Dodge, with the duo finding immense popularity with a new generation of performance enthusiasts (we have lost count of how many we regularly see in Metro Detroit.) Like all good things though, the Challenger is due for a mid-cycle refresh, and Dodge has unveiled the first teaser image hinting at big things for the updated Hellcat. Some cars just take you back. And the 2017 Dodge Challenger is one of them. Sure, it’s loaded with modern technology and conveniences, but once you fire up that awesome Hemi V8, and just listen to it whump, whump, whump – it becomes a time machine that transports you back to when driving was almost everything you could think about. It’s big, it’s bold, it’s positively bad-ass. What’s not to love? The design is familiar, the Challenger hasn’t changed much since it was re-introduced 2008. 2017 Dodge Charger Daytona 392 – HD Road Test Review

The Dodge Charger has always made big, loud speed its reason for being.  Even the simple R/T V8 runs a shouty HEMI and gets close to 5 seconds on the 60-mph sprint.  Simply heroic thrust on the road.  All with pricing that is a damn bargain versus any hot Camaro or Mustang, let alone anything else with a V8 and four doors.  (Rare breed indeed, lately). So now we have this Daytona edition with its Hellcat-alike bodywork and sexy black details.  Atop the Daytona kit you can add a three-number code that shouts POWERRR from the heavens:  the 392. Road Test Review – 2017 Dodge Challenger GT – By Carl Malek

A revolution is in the air in the muscle car segment. Ever since one can remember, a typical American muscle car was generally known for having a big V8 engine and, more importantly, rear-wheel drive. Even 10 years ago, the very idea of an all-wheel drive muscle coupe was seen as an alien concept to the big three domestic automakers (GM Ford and FCA.) The folks at Dodge are eager to overthrow the established order with the 2017 Dodge Challenger GT, but can this pioneering model bring true four season performance to a traditionally two season vehicle segment? or is …

Dodge brought out the big guns for the recent Midwest Auto Media event at Road America racetrack. Their two new sluggers left the crowd in awe!  The SRT Durango was a surprising arrival — considering it has never been seen in real life to date.  The huge news with this monster-V8 SUV is that its tires are simply massive.  Taller than you might expect and wider than most true performance cars — these Pirellis are critical for putting so much power to the ground.  Dodge promises performance to wallop the Yukon Denali and even out-handle the SRT Grand Cherokee. Is it the thunderclap of this 6.4-liter V8 on startup that makes you feel as powerful as Thor?  Or might it be the savage ingear power on the highway? Or is it the sheer bloodlust feeling of all that HEMI power beneath you?  Knowing that a floored throttle — or anywhere close — will create a riotous crackle of engine, exhaust and squeeling tires is quite intoxicating. Review – 2016 DODGE Journey CROSSROAD – By Tim Esterdahl

For years now, larger vehicles have dominated car sales with families putting a premium on space and seating over handling and fuel economy. The 2016 Dodge Journey is a perfect example of this with its third-row seating offering room for seven while sacrificing great handling and power. Yet, after driving it around for a week, it is clear why it has perennially been one of Dodge’s best-selling models. The extra space in the smaller size (easy to park and easier to drive for most) with a seating position that fits many people is quite honestly precisely what the American buying …

Hawkeye Drives – 2016 Dodge Journey Crossroad Plus AWD Review

The Dodge Journey is mostly unchanged from the previous year’s model. In fact, it’s little changed since its introduction back in 2009. There was a refresh in 2011, but that was mostly cosmetic. Beneath the skin, it shows its age a bit as the other competitors in its class, like the Nissan Rogue, Honda CRV, Toyota Rav 4, or the Kia Sorento, have out classed it over the years. The Journey just isn’t as sophisticated as the others, and feels a bit dated. That’s not to say that the Journey doesn’t have some positive attributes. Unlike the Honda, Toyota, and …

Is Hollywood Co-Promotion Worse Than Brand Integration? Star Wars and FCA to Find Out

Product placement in movies has evolved radically since Bumblebee Camaro raced back into our hearts — and many driveways — following the 2007 Transformers remake. In the last 20 years, paid PP was all about screen time and brand impact.  The challenges were to say the name of the product on film and have it be a hero type of character.  Without appearing saccharine.  (Bad examples include Acura and Sony in every Hollywood media program they have ever done.) For ‘good’ results, it was about showcasing the car organically throughout the film, with real-life displays of prop replicas generally involved …

Road Test Review – 2015 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack

2015 Dodge Challenger RT Scat Pack Review By Ken “Hawkeye” Glassman The Dodge Challenger RT Scat Pack is an outstanding car. It competes with the Mustang and Camaro in the marketplace, but in my mind, it stands apart on a few points. They’re all retro sport cars, but while the Mustang and Camaro are much porkier than their 60’s and 70’s versions, the Challenger seems to be a much more svelte looking and feeling car. Both the Ford and Chevy cars can be equipped with powerful engines, but the Challenger is a bit more boisterous and raucous. The driver gets …

210MPH GEIGER Dodge Viper GTS-R710 Boasts Reworked Headers, Cats, Exhaust and Ram Airbox

The Viper is incredible!  We fell hard for the brute recently, and love the tweaks GeigerCars created to make the car even better. A seriously reworked engine detailed below aims to help the 8.4-liter, 645HP stock V10 break free. Yes, this Viper is off the chain! But most of all, it howls higher and growls lower thanks to the new intake, headers and exhaust — all putting up the total output to 710 ponies. 2.9-seconds to 60-mph for this exact car, and pulling hard at its 212-mph official Vmax.   GEIGER Dodge Viper GTS-R710 PRESS RELEASE Dodge Viper GTS R710 …

HD Track Drive Review – 2016 Dodge VIPER GT – LOVE at Full Throttle

2016 Dodge Viper – HD Track Drive Video It is pretty fashionable to hate on the Viper right now. Its latest generation took a big leap in price, dropped its ragtop bodystyle option, and lacks the sheer, effortless sprint times so adored in the Nissan GT-R, Porsche 911 Turbo, and even the Hellcat twins. We have heaped a bit of scorn on the Viper as well, and after an oh-so-brief drive last year came away confused. This hulking beast of a car felt heavy, uncomfortable and hopelessly one-dimensional versus the STELLAR Corvette Z06 and even Z51 base engines. Even that …

2016 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat – Video Blast-Off and 130 New Photos

707-horsepower really brightens your day. As the first dry-weather drive of the Challenger Hellcat, we could hardly help the ear-to-ear grin in the video below. Blasting out of the parking lot and up to highway speed is a near-religious experience in the SRT Challenger. Until you try a 30-to-80-mph passing move — as we do shortly into the brief GoPro vid here. There are no words for the sublime, stomach-turning power of this musclecar BSD. Another acronym?   Oh yes.  But this one is totally NSFW… and stands for Big Swinging D***! The Challenger SRT is one of the most joyful …

2016 Dodge Charger PURSUIT Debuts new 12-inch Touchscreen with PnP Police Computer Systems

Dodge just updated its 2016 Charger Pursuit LEO model with some never-before-available tech: a giant portrait touchscreen that is custom-designed to be the main display and control for law enforcement officers in daily duties. Until now, the preferred method of departments to put computers into squad cars has been a floor-mounted Panasonic Toughbook. Yes, the laptop was theoretically portable, but not as mounted on its giant metal arm. Bolted down under the seat, this arm let officers move the laptop over the center console, angled toward them a bit. But still extremely awkward, and using an touchpad / nub thing …

4K Road Test Review – 2015 Dodge CHARGER R/T Is Four-Door Musclecar Dream From $34k

The 2015 Dodge Charger is a real favorite. So much so… that it might have ruined me for other cars. Since balling around Charleston this summer in the Redline Red HEMI R/T, it has been hard to get back into my normal groove of turbo stickshifts. Why? 370HP for 37k. That is a power and price combo that can’t be beat from any manufacturer, nor are others close to the excellence of the eight-speed ZF auto. Or the cabin comfort, room and tech. Or the style outside — which is eye-poppingly cool. Driving the Charger R/T redefines effortless speed, and …

2016 HELLCAT Production Scaling Up to Get 707HP In Your Driveway ASAP!

With an output of 707-horsepower and a soundtrack to melt your icy heart, the 2015 SRT Charger and Challenger Hellcats have been a MASSIVE hit for Dodge and SRT. Base pricing in the $60k range has done little to diminish demand, and calendar 2015 has been a cut-throat battle to get one in your driveway. The Charger Hellcat is especially rare so far — but that looks set to change thanks to near-doubling of production capacity for all Hellcats in 2016. The scarcity of the Hellcats has been dramatic on all levels; particularly with dealerships. Efforts to keep price gouging …

Road Test Review – 2015 Dodge Journey Crossroad AWD By Ken Glassman

2015 Dodge Journey Crossroad AWD Review By Ken Glassman The Dodge Journey is a bit of a sleeper in the conversation about compact SUV’s. Some of that may be due to the fact that it’s larger than the likes of the Nissan Rogue, Honda CRV, or Toyota Rav 4, yet still not up to the size of full sized SUV’s, like the Highlander, Pathfinder, or Pilot.  But this Dodge “tweener” has some good features, and for those looking for a larger family vehicle, which can be had with a third row seat, there’s a lot to look at. Best of Awards – 2015 Dodge Charger R/T Scat Pack in B5 Blue Is Goliath Giant-Killer

The 2015 Dodge Charger is a focused update and improvement — maintaining the giant cabin, huge power options and enhancing it up and down the nine-model range. The SRT Hellcat and its 707HP supercharged HEMI is hoovering up most of the headlines so far, buttwo questions before lusting after just the Hellcat: — Is that engine the biggest upgrade in creating such a comfortable and tech-savvy new full-size car? — And more importantly, is the Hellcat and its $64,000 base price, 204-mph Vmax and 3.7-second sprint to 60-mph the true sweet spot of the range? First, the biggest advantage of …

Houston Auto Show – 2015 Dodge Charger R/T vs Charger SXT

The 2015 Dodge Charger is really growing on me. After scoffing at its pretty basic exterior facelift when revealed last spring, we now really admire its slinky LED signature up front and unmistakeable ‘racetrack’ of LEDs in back. The real achievement in design of the new Charger is that all trim levels look good. As anyone knows, a BMW M3 is going to look nearly 10X as cool as a base 320i. The base-effect applies for nearly all cars and SUV types. The coolest models, of course, are at the top of the price chart. At times, you would not …

2002 Dodge M80 Concept

2002 Dodge M80 Concept Was Faithful Remake of 1940s Power Wagons

Remakes and retro redesigns were all the rage in the early 2000s – and Dodge had a whopper in its back catalog eager for a modern restyle. The Dodge Power Wagons of the 1940s became quite a symbol of American might both domestically and abroad thanks to their plentiful presence in the US Army ranks. This remake is a little less jokey than the Chevrolet HHR or SSR, but still feels relatively more than 12 years after its debut. That is the Catch 22 of retro designs, as any New Beetle owner can explain thoroughly. 2002 Dodge M80 Concept …

Concept Flashback – 2008 Dodge ZEO Was EV Tesla-Fighter

The 2008 Dodge ZEO was conceived in a world of $150-per-barrel oil in 2006 and 2007, when the full electrification of the car seemed inevitable. The freedom to run a flat-pack of Li-Ion batteries in the floor of the vehicle offered Dodge a chance to break out of typical packaging constraints. We see some great elements in the ZEO, including its finished four-seat cabin and spectacular doors. But the design is a bit busier than the Dodge ideal, especially around the nose. Lack of air intakes means the ZEO and its crossbar grille just seem a bit scrunched and silly …

Concept Flashback – 2002 Dodge Razor Was Driftable Rear-Drive Plaything

With a Razor scooter featured alongside the Razor concept, Dodge was feeling very silly and playful with the launch of this remarkably-sexy two-seater. A turbocharger 2.4-liter engine mounted longitudinally under the hood up front with a big K&N cone filter lets you know this was no Neon. Skinny tires front and rear mean the Razor was designed to be as drifty as a roller palette at CostCo. Five-point harnesses and racing seats will keep you in place while seriously sideways, however. We like the design overall, especially the extremely cool windshield wrap-around, near-vertical A-pillars and the chopped trunk and rear …

Concept Flashback – 2004 Dodge Sling Shot Was Rear-Engine Turbo Targa

More concept Dodges! The 2004 Sling Shot was a styling exercise investigating how a Dodge version of the recently-launched Smart Roadster might look. Production plans were ultimately shelved for both Sling Shot after, it was rumored, not even the Smart version could pass US crash testing rules. The shared platform means a turbo triple lived under the trunk in back.   2004 Dodge Sling Shot

2003 Dodge Tomahawk V10

2003 Dodge Tomahawk V10 Was Superbike Fantasy Concept

A concept vehicle should have a big impact, be memorable and help define a brand’s identity. By those metrics, the 2003 Dodge Tomahawk motorcycle is certainly a huge success. Sure, there are practical things to worry about when putting an 8.4-liter V10 onto a motorcycle — but Dodge did not get bogged down with boring details. What the Tomahawk showed was a wild spirit, raw design appeal, and a futuristic fantasy where your brain’s fear center has a lower top-speed than this Dodge.   2003 Dodge Tomahawk V10

Concept Flashback – 1968 Dodge Charger III

Yes, the 1999 Dodge Charger shown below is amazingly sleek and sexy. But when it comes to its inspirations, the 1968 Charger III is the grand-daddy of all sleek Dodges. This ultra-low and streamlined 1968 concept was a stunning look into the future of musclecars. Some very cool features? A full canopy clamshell is the main door — The steering column lifts to let the driver slide into the ultra-reclined driving positon — Triple rear air brakes were a strong sign of performance tech, and also showed how powerful the engine up front must have been to need them. …

Concept Flashback – 1999 Dodge Charger R/T

This 1999 Charger concept was the very first thing Dodge created when given access to Mercedes-Benz rear-drive sedan platform. It shows where the brand wanted to go and what it wanted to be, even while the production Dodge car lineup of the time was all front-drive and had been for two decades. This concept is really gorgeous, even today. The nose is a bit unpleasant with that grille and the oversized lamps of the day, but the proportions are to-die-for. Low and lean, in profile it looks like a real coupe on first and second glance. It is only when …

Concept Flashback – 2001 Dodge Super8 HEMI

Chrysler has been a prolific concept-car machine since the late 1980s. Many of these star show cars led to hit production models, but this Super8 was a bit far-fetched even for a clean-sleet large sedan. It was meant to recall the glory days of American rear-drive luxury cars: with a bench seat, inverted A-pillars and wrap-around windshield glass and that giant cross-hair grille. 2001 Dodge Super8 HEMI

HD Track Drive Review – 2015 Dodge Challenger R/T Is Powerful But Huge And Floaty

Updated 10.28.14 With Track Drive Video We were thrilled to get in the new Challenger for some hot laps around Autobahn Country Club — and extra happy it was a V8! But despite being near the top of the range of many Challengers for 2015, this R/T automatic was greatly outclassed by serious sports cars. The R/T felt fast, but also enormously floaty and very heavy around all corners. There was an odd sense of height in the car at all times – like it was riding too high and had a lofty center of gravity as well. In corners, …

Whisper it – but my favorite of the Dodge Charger/Challenger has always been the Charger. Not only do I prefer the name – I just like its style and long/low/wide scale better than the retro two-door. The latest updates for the 2015 model-year look thorough and helpful for improving the current Charger’s weakest link: its cabin. 2014 Dodge Durango Has Coolest SUV Stance, LED Lights and Even A 7-Seat Interior

The new Durango is a completely different machine from the first two generations of large SUVs from Dodge. Where those rigs really drove like trucks, with graunchy diffs and a stiff ride, the new Durango feels just as butch – but now far more nimble and polite in town. There is no harshness whatsoever from the RWD or optional AWD setups, and this is still one of the only rear-drive-based, seven seat crossovers on the market. Yes, there is the Tahoe, but that really moves the trucks up a size (and garage) class too far, for some. Tow ratings and …

VIDEO: 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat – Exhaust Note, Interior and Performance Upgrades Debut

600-horsepower from the new Challenger SRT’s supercharged Hellcat engine — all fired up and ready to roar into the record books with deliveries starting in late Summer 2014! ENGINE START-UP AND REVS VIDEO The coolest aspects of the new Challenger SRT are the Viper-inspired hood with extra breathing and venting ports, plus the hollow driver-side highbeam lamp – which delivers air right into the airbox of the Hellcat. The interior is completely redesigned, with a much more comfortable-looking seating arrangement for the big SRT racing thrones. The infotainment is also far better, as are the new bi-xenon lights that run …

Road Test Review – 2014 Dodge Journey Crossroad

The Dodge Journey is updated for 2014 with yet another special edition: this one called the Crossroad. It complements the Blacktop Journey with pricing from about $25,000 – which is a big jump from the advertised base pricing for the Journey that starts at $20,000. This is the first Dodge, Ram or Chrysler review I have written since January 12th when the Ram Mossy Oak debuted in Detroit. I would like to report good things – that this car was such a revelation that it made me cover Chrysler brands again. That is absolutely not the case with the $31,000 …

2014 Challenger SHAKER Lets Hemi V8 Rumble, Snort and Howl

The 2014 Challenger is only lightly refreshed versus its Charger sedan sibling, but even so: this big bruiser is not going quietly into the dark night. As the first rear-drive premium coupe made by Dodge in more than three decades, the Challenger has all the right stuff to burn rubber and have fun. The latest 300-horsepower V6 is a welcome addition to this big machine’s base configuration, while the SXT models will even offer a 100th Anniversary Edition with unique crimson paints and detailing. The real rubber-cooker is the R/T package and its 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with 375 horsepower and …

Concept Flashback: 1964 Dodge Hemi Charger – Speedster Prototype

Can you guess who hates Camaro and Mustang news? Dodge. This one-off concept’s HEMI engine gurgles and rocks the car as it revs with indignity at the 2.3-liter turbo four heading to the 2015 Mustang. No cubes = no pubes, the Hemi Charger growls to itself. Packing a 7.0-liter V8 engine with a quoted 600 horsepower, the Hemi Charger concept is part Batmobile part race-car and part street fantasy The proportions of this machine are hilariously retro. Clearly converted from a much longer sedan platform, the back deck of the Hemi Charger is a few feet longer than even the …
