1978 Pontiac Trans Am Pro Touring – Track-Attack Showcar Is Also Road Legal

I defy you to find a faster, meaner and more intense second-gen Firebird Trans Am! No. Not even ‘find.’ I defy you to imagine a more hardcore upgrade of this iconic F-body. Nearly every detail under the skin, the carbon-fiber hood and bespoke racing cabin is all-new and all-modern.  Only the custom Forgeline alloys with a massive tire bite betray the original looks outside this stunner, however. That combination of old and new makes this a real dreamweaver of a machine.  The estimate of this Pro Touring custom is about $120k — for which you will have a showcar, track car …

2015 AM General BRV-O Gunning Hard for Latest Military JLTV Contracts

AM General basically owned US military ground troop transport for 25 years with its ever-present Humvee. This $220,000 machine is still a staple for 50+ global armies and has played a huge role in every armed conflict since the late 1980s. But shifting war theatres ushered the Humvee, and AM General, to the back of the pack in the last decade in favor of specially-designed blast-proof trucks. The South Bend, Indiana firm went from cock of the walk to national disgrace with every IED casualty. The huge MRAPs and alphabet soup of FMTVs, MTVRs, LSVs and ASVs have rolled out …

Mecum Kissimmee 2015 Preview – Pontiac Firebird from The Rockford Files

Jim Rockford’s hero car from The Rockford Files!? Yessir. These three Firebirds are about as nice as it gets – truly stunning. James Garner was the ultimate 1970s detective, in a broadcast schedule lousy with imitators that could never compare with his steely delivery and shrewd crime-solving skills. This Firebird Formula was painted gold to match the first Firebird Espirit from the series’ early seasons, and was Rockford’s main ride for the 1978-1980 seasons of the show. Garner disliked the 1979 restyle of the Firebird, so this kid stayed in the picture.   Pontiac Firebird from The Rockford Files Lot …

Do you also like Mustaches and wild burnouts? If so, you are doubly fortunate with this Trans Am.  This Firebird is none other than Burt Reynold’s personal Pontiac Trans Am. The C/B radio is …

Mecum Kissimmee 2015 Preview – 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle LS6 Super Sport

Do you like classic musclecars? Then you are in luck this week – we are featuring a dozen of the finest available from the Mecum Florida auctions in January 2015. Kicking things off is this triple black Chevelle SS. We think of the Chevelle as the Camaro’s stronger and meaner older brother — so clearly not one to mess with at the lights. The 454 badges show and tell the power of this machine loud and clear, as does its bellowing V8 roar on hard throttle. 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle LS6 Super Sport 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle LS6 Engine 454/450 HP Trans …

Road Test Review – 2015 GMC Yukon Denali Is 6.2-Second, 6.2L V8 Dream SUV

The GMC Yukon Denali has been a pet project of mine since the trio of next-gen GM SUVs debuted in September of 2013. I went from auto writer to fan-boy: creating color turn-tables, pouring over the equipment lists, and generally fawning over the machine. Some seat time only confirmed my strong desire for the Denali as the sweet-spot of the Tahoe/Suburban/Escalade line-up. I deeply enjoyed the Denali’s plush leather and interior mood, while relishing the benefits both the Tahoe and Yukon bring to the table for 2015. Let’s dive in with the usual categories: Exterior, Interior, Driving Experience and Summary. …

1960s Classics Changing Hands At Record Prices – And Frequency Throughout 2013 Springtime is auction season, and this year things were hotter than ever in the market for early 1960s exotica. Last weekend, Bonhams sold a one-off 1960 Bertone DB4 GT Jet for $4.9 million at a special event by the AM Works Service based at the old factory in Newport Pagnell. This weekend, a 1962 Ferrari 400 Superamerica SWB Coupe Aerodinamico is on the block the RM Auctions Lake Cuomo event. The rush of car buying in Pebble Beach in August also reached a fever pitch this year, but …
