1998 Nissan R390 GT1 – Amelia Concours 2019 Highlight

This one-of-a-kind machine is the only road-going variant of the Nissan R390 LeMans racecar series. It usually lives locked away in the Nissan’s Zama museum in Japan so we were very fortunate to have it attend the Amelia Island Concours 2019. Every vehicle ever looks stunning on bright green grass under Florida sun. The design is a thing of great beauty, even if the nose detailing is dull and this road variant lacks the giant rear wing of the racecars. The 3.5-liter V8 shoots 550 fiery horsepower out the rear bumper edges on command from inside the leather-wrapped cabin. We …

Here is one near and dear to the heart.  The red dream crosses the block this August at the RM Sotheby’s Monterey, California auctions.  These take place the week of the nearby Pebble Beach concours. This tiny but ferocious 911 has no reserve and could fetch around $350k for its cleanliness, originality and, of course, 993 desirability. RM Monaco 2016 Preview – 1997 Porsche 911 GT1 Evolution – Animated Bodywork Peelaways

The 911 GT1 Evo is a rare sight indeed, and especially so with its bodywork intricately removed for a photo session. This Evo version of the GT1 LeMans prototype integrated the new 996-generation front lamps, and a slightly revised tail over its first year on the track in 1996. 1997 Porsche 911 GT1 Evolution RM Sotheby’s  Monaco 2016 1997 Porsche 911 GT1 Evolution Chassis no. Fantasy Supercar Renderings – RUF Porsche 993 Turbo RS

Yes, Porsche made a 993 Turbo S, and RUF made a Turbo R (below)… but what about something altogether wilder? Here we present a fantasy digital rendering three-pack of the Porsche 993 RUF 911 of our dreams: what we’re calling the Turbo RS. Much change went into the look of this car, but it started out with simple updates: darker wheels and perhaps a RUF graphic on the side? But after driving into the renders, we decided to lower the front spoiler and make it wider, chop the roof, extend the side sills downward to hug the wheels better, and …

Mecum Florida 2015 Favorites – 1997 RUF Porsche 911 Turbo R Yellowbird

Among all the Porsche 911’s ever made, the 993 is easily the most sought-after generation. This despite the car already being on sale for three decades up to that point… And among the 993 series, the 911 Turbo is a mega-star among minor bit players. Add in a RUF-massaged engine, interior, chassis and paintwork in trademark Yellowbird with monoblock wheels and the RUF big brake kit? The end result is many people’s ideal Porsche, right here, idling calmly. This RUF 911 Turbo benefits from nearly all the modern tech and style of a current-generation Porsche, plus the legendary speed of …

The SUS lives! Sport Utility Sedans are a rare breed indeed. Volvo’s new S60 XC entry will head to Detroit and then nationwide as a fun niche model for the brand. The Cross Country style actually looks amazing on the S60 sedan shell – and we’re eager to spot the rare and elusive SUS Volvo in the wild later in 2015…! 1997 Volkswagen W12 SYNCHRO Coupe Concept Is Giugiaro Masterpiece

Recapping the VW W12 concept saga has been extremely perplexing, with numerous mistakes and edits in the first article below. In fact, the yellow W12 SYNCHRO was the first of the three W12 concept cars. This example, designed by ItalDesign Giugiaro, is actually far more thoroughly engineered on a production design level than the final W12 NARDO Coupe in orange. This can be seen in the actual production body panels, which were eliminated in the one-piece shell of the orange record-holder car. Other details are also up to Volkswagen Piech standards, leading one to think the car could actually see …

2001 Volkswagen W12 NARDO Coupe Concept Slams 217MPH Vmax

The first of three W12 Volkswagen supercars is clearly the least-impressive — both in terms of its design and overall levels of finish. The messiest portion of the design is the back glass, which VW designers struggle to make elegant or look like a hypercar should. The huge size of the new W12 engine is obviously a challenge in its packaging, despite taking only a bit more room in a front-engine car than a normal V8. But the ethos of a giant Passat-infused hypercar is nonetheless very striking to showgoers who have seen nothing as low, wide or fast as …
