GMInsideNews’ MonaroSS Renders 2017 Cadillac CTS-RS + CTS-V Coupe and Cabriolet Variants

We were not alone in speculating about a future Cadillac CTS-V Coupe. The one hint from the CTS-V release a few days ago is that the photos were all labelled “Sedan.” This is usually a dead giveaway that a coupe or cabrio version of a car is coming. MonaroSS from GM Inside News is well-known for his Elmiraj-based sedan renderings from last Fall. We’re happy to see his latest renders on this superlux Cadillac theme. His idea for a CTS-RS is easily the most enticing… but the cabriolets and coupes are interesting to see as well. Reactions seem positive over …

Update1 – 640HP, 200MPH 2016 Cadillac CTS-V Revealed + Tech Specs

The super-sedan category has a very potent new entry in the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V. Revealed today online ahead of its public showing in Detroit in two weeks, the new CTS-V is powered by a supercharged 6.2.-liter V8 making a stonking 640-horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque. Let’s repeat those numbers. 640HP, 630 Ft/LB. That is a cool 100 over the BMW M5 and 60-plus more than the E63 AMG S-Model. The rear-drive sedan has a limited-slip diff in back along with the latest eight-speed automatic from the Corvette Z06. The one that is .4-seconds-quicker to 60-mph than even the …

Fantasy ChopTop Renders – 2015 Cadillac Escalade Feeling Lowww!

Big drama in development work on the site today. The only respite for this author – to stay busy and resist panicking as all images went down? Making more custom images, oddly enough. A chop-top conversion is one of the hardest to handle with OEM quality. A widebody is almost exclusively an exterior upgrade, but a chopped roofline requires some serious changes. Roll cages, electronics, cabin trims, doors, doorframes and glass all need to be redone. Not exactly something you can eyeball along the way, or carbon-fiber your way out of CAD-CAM studies in advance. But for visual impact, a …

Concept Flashback – 2003 Cadillac Sixteen Hoped to Join $100k+ Limo Segment

The Cadillac Sixteen created a huge, huge stir around the world after its reveal in early 2003. This was shortly after the Rolls-Royce Phantom had been reborn in its ultra-long and cab-backward style, and the world was even more gaga for the Sixteen. Cadillac trotted the car around the world at least thrice to attend every major auto show you could ever name. Fashion and lifestyle agazines wrote about it. Famous photographers snapped it in famous places. All this love came out of left field, to be honest. No one in the $100,000-plus luxury car market of 2003 would ever, …

Concept Flashback – 2002 Cadillac Cien XV12 – Halo Hypercar Back in Product Plans?

Cadillac in 2002 was just, just starting to reclaim its place in the luxury car ranks. Long blighted by horribly-engineered boats that failed every objective and subjective comparison with any true luxury brand, Cadillac was finally committing to rear-drive and actual merits as a corporate philoshophy. The new Art & Science tagline for the brand’s style — coined by Leo Burnett Chicago — needed an exemplar. People were thrilled by the Catera-replacing CTS but the brand needed a real shove upmarket. And fast. Enter stage left: the 2002 Cadillac Ciel concept running a mid-engine XV12 Northstar of 7.5-liters. It was …

HD Road Test Review – 2015 Cadillac Escalade Luxury AWD – Long Live The King

INTRO   The 2015 Cadillac Escalade is the ultimate in look-good, feel-good luxury SUVs. After a week driving the Escalade around Georgia and the Carolinas, we really came to love the big truck and never ceased to be amazing by its performance and tech achievements in this fourth-generation model. For many years of the first three generations of Escalade, SUV buyers seemed to bow down to the king Caddy for its prestige appeal — with the actual changes and upgrades from the Denali seeming less-than-complete. The risk of paying the Cadillac premium is that car-guys might see through the blingy …

Pebble Beach 2014 Concours Lawn – 1935 Cadillac 370D Fleetwood V12 Town Cabriolet

Getting a car onto the Pebble Beach Concours lawn is mostly objective: the car has to fit the category and be absolutely flawless in every way. But moving from the fairway and onto the greens where the awards are given? That is all about subjective appeal — with metrics like “elegance” telling you that winning is largely about the mood of the year and the slinky aesthetic of the cars in question. All this seems silly until you spend time with a car like this. Elegant is one of the first things that comes to mind, and sticks with you …

This four-door coupe is truly a style and design icon. The Brougham is one of Cadillac’s most-valuable cars of all time — and this one in the Cadillac pavilion of Pebble Beach 2014 was a lovely find. From most angles, the Eldorado Brougham is simply a stylish and sexy coupe with some of the largest tail-fins you have ever seen. But from the rear three-quarter angle, we see the stunning contrast-alloy roof and a hidden pair of rear doors — making this one of the first of the modern ‘4-door’ coupes.   1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham

2012 Cadillac CTS-V with Satin White Wrap by CAMSHAFT vs 2015 CTS-V Coupe Midnight

Tastes are changing fast. In the latest Corvette C7 sales breakout for 2014, gloss black wheels took nearly half of the sales on the top Z51 trim level. Old staples like silver and chrome are now battling for the remainder of sales. This makes sense. Supercars and hypercars as far back as 2005 and 2006 started to appear with black wheels. This is a great top-down was to make a trend go mainstream. Similarly, brightwork is out. This 1959 Cadillac Cyclone is really a light-hearted take on the dream cars ethos. Here is a car with giant nose cones like a rocket, tail fins as well as aileron side stabilizers out back. Hidden lamps are so far from prominence that they slink under the hood nearly a foot behind the black rocket-bra-like protrusions ahead of the machine itself. Sexiness was key to this shape, which also has tail-lamps in a bright machined shroud — looking like they could also blast out hot propellent as they light up red under braking. 1959 Cadillac Cyclone XP-74 Of course, there …

Half Of GM’s Buick Dealerships Take Buyout Over Electrification, What Does It All Mean?

The departure of the Toyota Land Cruiser left a noticeable void in Toyota’s full-size SUV lineup here in the U.S. The Land Cruiser combined size, versatility and comfort into an enviable package that was fully capable of delivering the goods on the trail and in the hustle and bustle of the urban jungle. That said, Toyota was prepared to offer a consolation prize to buyers, the 2023 Lexus LX600, which uses the international market Land Cruiser’s underpinnings and then decks it out with extra luxury. Road Test Review – 2022 Lexus IS350 F-Sport – New Technology Hides Old Bones

The Lexus IS was the classic example of age before beauty. Lexus wanted to bring the fight to the Germans, but in the end, there was no hiding the fact that the IS was too old, clunky, and unpolished for it to pose any serious form of threat to the established benchmarks (even the Cadillac CT4 managed to outshine it). This time though, Lexus went back to the drawing board for the 2022 IS, and while some of the old bones carry over from the outgoing model, there’s still plenty to talk about here.   New IS Styling Is Bolder …
