2024 Nissan Sentra Gets Light Refresh, New CVT To Help Improve Fuel Economy

The Nissan Sentra still fights the good fight for Nissan in the compact car segment, with the company confirming that it will be giving the Sentra light styling updates for 2024 as well as a new CVT that aims to make the model more fuel efficient than its predecessor.

Sentra Styling Tweaks Require Sharp Eye To Spot, CVT Adds Fuel Economy Chops

At first glance, it’s safe to assume that Nissan didn’t make any styling changes to the 2024 model, with the core look heavily resembling the 2023 model. However, look closer, and you’ll see that the model gets a restyled front grille and new headlights. SR models get a more extensive refresh that adds a healthy amount of darkened accents, red SR badges, and a new rear graphic that’s supposed to widen the front end. SR models also get more accents in the interior, including red/orange contrast stitching. The model also gets a newly available Atlantic Gray paint color too. Meanwhile, the SV model gets new 16-inch wheels and also benefits from the broader refresh package. The interior will also benefit from other changes, including a newly available eight-speaker Bose premium audio system, 360-degree backup camera, and turn signal integrated mirrors for the SV Premium while the SR gets heated front seats.

The other big change is in the performance hardware but not under the hood, where the 149-horsepower, 2.0-liter, naturally aspirated four-cylinder is carried over from the outgoing model. Instead, Nissan gave the Sentra a new version of the Xtronic CVT. The Sentra always had a CVT, but the company claims that this one has been updated with improved shift software as well as upgrades that allow it to support a start/stop idle system. The new CVT promises to improve fuel economy, but Nissan was not ready to reveal that information just yet.

When Can I Buy One?

Nissan revealed that the 2024 Nissan Sentra will arrive in dealerships this summer, with pricing set to be released in the near future. However, look for the pricing ladder not to move too much when compared to the 2023 model’s.
