Hyundai Tuscon N Model in the Works? New Report Suggest Its Happening

Hyundai’s N performance sub brand has bold aspirations for the performance vehicle market. With the i30 N and the U.S. exclusive Veloster N covering both sides of the globe with their hot hatch performance and the Elantra GT N-Line signaling the emergence of the N-Line lineup, new rumors suggest that an unlikely Hyundai offering could be the third model in Hyundai and N’s ruthless assault on the performance SUV segment. While we had our collective sights on perhaps seeing the smaller Kona CUV receive an N branded model of its own, several company insiders revealed to the folks at Auto Express that the Tuscon SUV could indeed be in the running for inclusion into the N brand family. When viewed in its current guise, the Tuscon is not necessarily the first nameplate you think of when asked to name a performance SUV. The Tuscon is a solid and capable family …

Lexus Previews 2019 NX F Sport Black Line Special Edition

When it comes to being popular, the Lexus NX lineup has proven to be a very popular model for Lexus dealers. While we are still scratching our heads over the oddly styled and distinctively smaller UX crossover, Lexus engineers have decided to give the NX a bit more style, with an all new limited edition model that aims to help it reconnect with its sporty DNA. Dubbed the NX F Sport Black Line Special Edition, this particular iteration of NX boasts a very long moniker, as well as an equally long suite of tweaks to help it stand out somewhat from its mainstream siblings. The bulk of the exterior styling (for better or for worse) is largely unchanged, with buyers being able to choose from three different colors — Obsidian, Atomic Silver, and Ultra White while also gaining the 19-inch wheels from the traditional F Sport variant. While the exterior …

Toyota Teases 2020 Tacoma Ahead of Chicago Debut

In an announcement that it revealed yesterday, Toyota has confirmed that it will be showcasing an all new version of its venerable Tacoma pickup truck at the Chicago Auto Show in February. The unveiling of the all new Tacoma comes at a key time in the model’s history, especially considering that the once dominant king of the mid-size truck segment now faces an all new field of contenders that aim to steal its sales throne from its wheel arches. Admittably, Toyota’s announcement lacks key details, but the company has released a lone darkened teaser image that showcases the front end of the all new Tacoma that is set against a sillouhetted mountain backdrop at dusk. The apperance of the all new Tacoma comes at a time when the best selling mid-size pickup truck on the market is facing a two pronged assault from both the recently unveiled Ford Ranger, as …

2019 Nissan Kicks SR – Road Test Review – By Ben Lewis

Before we start this review, a moment of silence for the Nissan Juke. Yes, that odd, amphibious-looking crossover that was a bunch of fun to drive, interesting to look at, and a breath of fresh air in the stuffy small crossover segment. And now to the all-new Nissan Kicks, the Juke’s replacement. While it certainly is more conventional, it does a lot of things very well, and comes in at a bargain price. That’s a different kind of a kick, to be sure…. Goodbye Froggy, Hello Smurfy While some at Nissan tried to tell us that the Juke looked like an alligator poking its eyes above the waterline, it’s cute proportions made it more frog-like than anything else. But it was controversial. The Kicks won’t polarize – it’s modern and handsome – with squared off lines, the V-shaped grille, boomerang headlights, and floating roof that’s all part of Nissan’s current …

Road Test Review – 2019 Cadillac Escalade ESV Premium Luxury (4WD) – By Carl Malek

When we had our chance to experience the 2018 Lincoln Navigator Black Label sometime ago, we adored its interior, elegant driving manners, and its yacht-esque styling both inside and out. We were so impressed, that we decided to test its chops with a road trip to northern and western Michigan where it performed almost flawlessly. But we always had an eye on giving domestic rival Cadillac the chance to issue a rebuttal. Cadillac reps obliged, and allowed us to experience an Escalade on our home turf. But can the Escalade (a model that once dominated older Navigator iterations in sales) still be able to assert its muscle against its Lincoln counterpart? Or have the tables turned on the once mighty Escalade?   Art & Science Styling That’s Showing Its Age:   The exterior styling of our Shadow Metallic hued Premium Luxury tester is still a bold styling statement, but at …

2018 Lexus GX460 – On & Off-Road Test Review – By Matt Barnes

Badged as the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado worldwide, the Lexus GX460 is a luxuriously adorned version for the United States and other upscale markets. The underpinnings are as durable as one would expect from a Toyota product with all the luxury of a Lexus. Interior The GX460 is a very luxurious vehicle with all the features you would expect in a Lexus. The leather is soft and supple, with heated and ventilated seats. The second row has heated seats, but not ventilated. The steering wheel is also heated. The middle row captain’s chairs are comfortable and allow easy access to the 3rd row. With the commonality of high-quality mobile devices, the rear seat entertainment system feels dated and is an option we would skip. The system is easy to use, and the included headphones have good sound quality. Climbing into the third-row seats, we find that they are a little …

2019 Subaru Forester Limited – Road Test Review – By Ben Lewis

Subaru owners are faithful. To the vehicles, to the brand, to the ethos. It keeps owners in the fold, and attracts new buyers in big numbers. Like the Prius, Tesla, Jeep and others, people like a brand or model that stands for something. So, you don’t go messing with success. Familiar lines Now that we have an all-new, 5th –generation Forester for 2019, it’s not a big shocker that this model is evolutionary, rather than revolutionary. Which is okay, since there wasn’t anything wrong with the previous model. You might have trouble picking the new one out, so here’s some tips. Built on the Subaru Global Platform, the new model is a bit larger, while front, side and rear under guards give a more rugged look. New LED headlights give a fresher front end, while the signature hexagonal grille incorporates active shutters to improve fuel efficiency. New colors, including our …
