2017 Mansory GRONOS 6×6 G-Wagen

The Mansory Gronos G-Class goes right into the “Because.. Of Course” folder. The design upgrades are fairly deep with an all-new face and fresh rear bumper as well.  Much more modern than the factory G-CLass.  But nothing compares with the raw curb appeal. A truck whose fenders are at eye level needs little upgrade.  And of course, this 6×6 version is an even more capable forebearer to the trendy 4×4-squared.  WIth an extra locking diff there is a big traction advantage in the 6×6.  Its external pickup bed is also a favorite feature among its Falcon-loving owners. Here are three of the latest Mansory G6x6 creations in 50 photos.  The cabins are even more shouty than the paintwork!  Leather floors are my preferred upgrade in the G-Wagen — and the big M delivers bigtime. 2017 Mansory Gronos 6×6 You May Also Like:2017 Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet – Ragtop V12TT G-Wagen!? 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty 6.7L Platinum – Road Test Review w/ Videos

Where to start?  Super Duty is stronger than before, yes. But you are not prepared for how much stronger it is.  Ford quotes the strength of the (high-strength steel) boxed ladder frame as being 20X more rigid than before.  2000 percent! Ford added hundreds of pounds to this frame to blow away its rivals in max towing. All bodywork and the bed of the truck make the swap to aluminum for 2017 at the same time.  So if the new frame added 300 pounds, the alloy bodywork subtracts 700 from the total.  All in all, the new F-250 is a full 400 pounds lighter than before. This might seem academic for a truck that tips the scales above three tons — but it is important to the exceptional new drive character of the machine. Oh, and there is an all-new 6.7-liter PowerStroke diesel making 440HP/925 pound-feet of torque.  Let that sink …

2017 Nissan TITAN Pro4X V8 – Road Test Review – By Ben Lewis

The full-size pickup truck is as American as BBQ, and it sells like hot cakes. But it’s not something just Ford, GM and Dodge have noticed. While Nissan and Toyota both have made strong inroads in the compact pickup truck market, they’ve long wanted a slice – even a sliver – of that huge Full-size pie. Well for 2017 we have an all-new bigger, better, Titan. Did Nissan get the recipe right, or are they going to end up being extra crispy? Well, they’ve certainly given it their best shot. Outside of the Nissan badge on the hood, this pickup was designed, engineered, tested and built all right here in ‘Murica.  Nissan is actually offering two versions, Titan and Titan XD. The XD is a fascinating idea – a “150+” competitor, designed to wedge itself in-between F150 size trucks and larger Super Duty trucks. But the real bread and …

2016 Nissan TITAN XD Platinum Reserve 5.6L V8 – HD Road Test Review

The Titan XD is making trouble in the full-size truck business! Like many disruptive troublemakers, though, they are doing a great service to the rest of the class.  Think of the rigid 1500 vs 2500 hierarchy of Fords and Chevys as the annoyed teacher, and buyers as the giggling classmates – in this broad metaphor. The established players in the segment are deeply invested in the half-ton, full-ton distinctions.  Beefier springs and a heavy-gauge chassis equals massive profits for the established truckmakers. Nissan has shaken things up with its all-new, ground-up redesign of the 2016 Titan XD – or Every Duty.  Its towing, hauling and gross combined vehicle weight ratings nicely split the difference between 1500-level machines and their big, tall 2500-spec brothers.  The Nissan’s new advantages are many: more capability, in a more liveable and more affordable package than its entrenched rivals. Who are the winners in this scenario?  …

First Drive – 2016 RAM 1500 LIMITED EcoDiesel + VIDEO Walkaround and 70 Pics

The absolute king of the job sites? The RAM Limited pack offers unlimited access to major energy, mining and construction projects.  Simply by its bad-ass visual boldness! In black over chrome for this tester, the $3k Limited package’s bright RAM script was well worth the cash, front and rear.  The new grille is an objet d’art.  It stencil motif lives inside in a twisted, western-inspired stitching across the cabin details.             We even warmed up to the 14000-size RAM font on the tailgate.  Might prefer the Limited-spec, body-color bumpers versus the $300 return to chrome front and rear on the tester. Pricing?  Detailed on the monroney sticker below, of course.  $60,395 is the final total with the strong and smooth EcoDiesel engine + eight-speed automatic in play.    2016 RAM 1500 LIMITED Crew Cab 4×4 EcoDiesel – Exterior   2016 RAM 1500 LIMITED EcoDiesel …

Drive Review – 2016 RAM 2500 Laramie Longhorn 4×4 – By Carl Malek

A Tale Of Two Trucks – Part 2     2016 Ram 2500 Laramie Longhorn   Serving as our second test vehicle, the 2016 Ram 2500 Laramie Longhorn takes a different approach to luxury and in the process becomes a completely different truck. Like the 3500 Limited, the Longhorn package comes equipped with an impressive resume of standard and optional equipment, and it also came equipped with the same 6.7 liter Cummins diesel engine. But unlike the black on black color scheme that defined the dually, the interior of the Longhorn embodies the spirit of the American west, and as a result features brighter colors with our tester sporting attractive Cattle Tan leather seats and grey accents. The wood trim in our tester was also a shade brighter, and it really helped add a visual exclamation point to the beautifully crafted interior. Our favorite interior feature is the wood trim on the …

Drive Review – 2016 RAM 3500 LIMITED Cummins Dually – By Carl Malek

A Tale Of Two Trucks – Part 1 The 2016 RAM 3500 Limited & 2016 RAM 2500 Longhorn   With pickup trucks seeing a resurgence in both popularity and sales these days due to low fuel prices, many automakers are revamping their long term sales strategies to try and meet this newfound demand. FCA and their Ram brand are no exception, and are doubling down on their efforts to steal the sales crown away from both Ford and General Motors thanks to offerings such as the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel as well as recent shifts in production capacity. I wanted to find out for myself whether their lineup had the chops to take on this challenge, so I got behind the wheel of two of their heavy duty models, and put them through their paces to find out.   2016 Ram 3500 Limited Dually   Serving as the proverbial chairman of the Ram heavy …

Review + Videos – 2016 Nissan TITAN XD 5.0L Cummins TDV8 – The CRUSHER is HD Truck of the Year!

As you may have noticed, there is usually lead time for these full reviews after the cars leave the CRD speed fleet.  Time to process and refine the review content is usually really helpful, despite that seeming counterintuitive. Not in this case.  Titan XD jumps the line, and is firmly top-of-mind a day after its departure. The Titan XD blew us away so thoroughly with its unique skills and capabilities that we’re tempted to name it HD Truck of the Year.  Not just tempted, it’s done. This is our HD TOTY for 2016. Diving in deep yesterday for the drive videos helped crack the Titan XD’s code — and make sense of Nissan’s strategy to become a trucking hero with the Titan’s complete relaunch. Is the Titan XD perfect?  No, it is not. But does it perfectly solve a long-running pickup truck mystery?  With innovative, high-tech solutions that break the half-ton 1500  vs one-ton 2500 ‘rules’ the truck business? …
