Pebble Beach 2018 – Mercedes-Benz EQ Silver Arrow Concept – By James Crabtree

Here is a very very special execution of the streamliner speed record car.  Special details throughout, if you can get past the cheeky/dumb face its wears.  The tail is mean and sexy/brutal with its purposeful rear wing and cross-cut copper internal gubbins on full display. In profile, you find free-standing half-moons on both axles cover just the front half of the tire and wheel package.  The backside just open to rocket out air, stones and whatever else as car hits warp speed. An EV powertrain is a great fit for the Silver Arrows — because these streamliners were about as long as a school bus!  Pack all that with batteries and we might have some serious potential here. The ingress/egress is particularly cool. The entire central cockpit shroud and steering wheel rise from the car to make room for you to hop in deep.  Then it motors silently shut …

2018 Nissan GTR50 Concept By ItalDesign – Goodwood FoS 2018 Debut

Very interesting collaboration here where ItalDesign was tasked with a re-skin a Nissan GT-R fully, inside and out, as a celebration of the car’s 50-year legacy. More than a reskin, even. Re-imagining? Reboot? Yes. Possible hints at next-gen model expected for the 2020 model year?  Yes of course.  But mostly this exercise just celebrates the GT-R’s essence and moves the vehicle noticeably upmarket.  Even as a $100k car the GT-R does lack the class and panache of true supercars, in some respects, with the current model’s workmanlike exterior and interior. How to go high-fashion without dulling the GT-R’s ace in the hole — its insane speed? Send one to Italy for GG’s crew to vamp up! The gorgeous results speak for themselves.   2018 Nissan GTR50 Concept By ItalDesign You May Also Like:Design Analysis – 2018 BMW M8 Concept GranCoupe – Goodwood FoS 2018 BMW needs some new halo vehicles …

2019 McLaren SENNA GTR – Best of Goodwood Festival of Speed 2018

The McLaren Senna is already such an insanely aggressive and unique new hypercar.  Its looks instantly make the entire Lambo and Ferrari lineups seem hopelessly dated. The raw energy from these sliced and diced panels hardly needed a racing upfit.  But here we are. This Senna GTR is absolutely shocking in its design brutality. The functional nature of the aero additions are makes them even more interesting and beautiful to the eye. Check out this nose — not just the usual surfboard chin splitter here, oh no. What they’ve done is remove any air-blocking flat surfaces from the nose.  What is a solid strike-face on the road cars becomes a razor-sharp shark nose.  The nose is defined by this enormous chasm between splitter and hood edge. Around the sides the chopped and layered design elements are touchably enticing.  And then we have the tail. This tail will go down in …

Design Analysis – 2018 BMW M8 Concept GranCoupe – Goodwood FoS 2018

BMW needs some new halo vehicles at the top of its lineup.  Both to compete with the rockstar AMG GT as well as subdue all the M-car loyalists who despise the i8. The new 8 series serves that purpose nicely. And before it has even arrived — we have a new variant with totally unique styling and details. Oh, and two extra doors.  The M8 GranCoupe concept tries to keep the Mustang-like raciness of the 850’s roofline while squeezing in two seats back there.  Headroom!?  Who cares! How is this different than the current M6 GC, you ask? Scale. This M8 GC is enormous.  Think Rolls-Royce proportions. The M8 GC also nicely teases the next generation of BMW M car designs.  We’d bet a good chunk of cash that the 2020 M4 will share this face and hopefully its giant, wrap-around ducktail rear spoiler!! There are interesting details in this …

Road Test Review – 2018 Jaguar E-Pace P300 R-Dynamic – By Carl Malek

When the 2018 Jaguar E-Pace arrived on the scene, it brought a breeze of inevitability to the storied British luxury brand. Once known for stubbornly resisting the SUV craze with its car-centric lineup, and the erratic reliability that came along with it, Jaguar is making a serious push at being a true contender in the luxury automobile ranks. This included adopting SUVs into its ranks starting with the bigger F-Pace SUV. The F-Pace was a great first step, and it offered buyers a good blend of performance and capability. However, its large size also caused the F-Pace to not resonate as well with budget oriented buyers that wanted luxury, but in a smaller package. The E-Pace aims to solve this problem, but in its own distinctive way. The question is can it indeed be the mass market solution that Jaguar needs? The exterior styling of our P300 R-Dynamic all-wheel drive …

2018 Nissan 370Z Coupe Heritage Edition – Road Test Review – By Ben Lewis

Once, a long time ago, affordable sports cars roamed the highways and byways of this great land. The dream of a roadster (or coupe) in the garage was well within reach, and shared by many. Wuh happened? Safety regulations, Crossovers, SUV’s, Baby Boomers with bad backs –it seems like they all conspired to do the sports car in. Many manufacturers just walked away from those who love to drive the most. But luckily, some didn’t. The herd has been thinned out, but the ones that remain are pretty darn good. The Miata comes to mind – The Subaru BR-Z/Toyota 86 is another. And one of the best has been offering a great drive for nearly a decade. The Nissan 370Z. We were especially excited to get our hands on the 2018 Heritage Edition – not necessarily for the screaming yellow zonker paintwork, but for the fact that it’s basically a …

Car Maintenance Product Review – SunJoe SPX3000 Pressure Washer – By Carl Malek [Video]

With all of the vehicles that make there way in and out of the Car-Revs-Daily, it’s always a treat when something unique makes its way into our offices. That was exactly the case when the folks at SunJoe/SnowJoe reached out, and asked us to review their newest pressure washer offering. Can the all-electric SPX3000 succeed in being the perfect jack-of-all-trades offering? Or is it all washed up?   To find out, we unleashed our tester on a wide range of jobs at our office to see how it measured up in real world use. Before we could do that though, we had to formally assemble our unit first. On that front, the SunJoe proved to have a very straight forward assembly process, with many components easily lining up into place. There are some tabs that require a bit of dexterity and patience to formally snap into their assigned locations, but …
