1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham – Meet the Original 4-Door Coupe

Is this my favorite Cadillac of all time? YES! I love the Eldorado Brougham for all its quirks, but most of all for its incredible design and packaging.  Here is a fairly compact — for the era — machine with low-slung lines and width to take up an entire freeway lane.  Hidden rear suicide doors are truly invisible until you know where to look.  Then once these all open you discover a pillarless layout!  That makes it unlike nearly all other coach-door classic cars and quite special in my book. The other really coupe-like element that ties the design togehter is the bubble hardtop roofline. By eliminating rear glass and with shorter rear doors than proper sedans, the Eldorado really has the proportions and design elan of a proper coupe. The design details are a flashy mix of Jet Age with a heavy swirl of Art Deco detailing — especially …

Why Getting That New Car May Actually Be Worth It

With countless blogs and websites stressing the importance of saving and minimizing on purchases, some may feel reluctant about splurging on a new vehicle. After all, any new vehicle is a significant investment that, for many, requires financing and adds to existing bills. Because of this, some people may have the mindset that as long as their vehicle gets from point A to B, there is no reason to search for something new. However, before the prospects of buying a new car are written off entirely, consider the reasons why it may be worth getting the car you want after all. Safety There are many tell-tale signs that a car is no longer safe to drive. If the odometer is showing well over six digits and demonstrates symptoms of a vehicle breakdown, a new car may not just be a luxury, but a necessity. Engine check lights that continue to …

Flawless 1994 Toyota Supra Twin-Turbo Targa 6MT – RM Amelia 2019 Preview

The excitement for this summer’s hottest new sports car is palpable since the Supra bowed in Detroit last month.  Base price from $50k, a turbo straight six and handling that is sure to be a purist’s delight — that is the promise from Toyota for the 2020 Supra.  Even before the forthcoming Gazoo Racing ‘GR’ pack comes along with its stiffer springs and giant wing out back. What better time to appreciate and remember the Supra tha really cemented the badge’s reputation among performance enthusiasts: the Mk 4. This example is the best and most unmolested example we’ve seen in years.   Most Supra’s are beat up with mods by this time in their lives — and getting them back to OEM is a huge undertaking. This car has only done 11,200 miles since new.  It was delivered to a Chicago customer before being shipped abroad to Europe to mature gracefully.  Now …

Volkswagen Teases 2020 Jetta GLI Sedan Ahead of Chcago Debut

Volkswagen is primed and ready to showoff the new generation Jetta GLI at the 2019 Chicago Auto Show later this week, but before the sportiest of al;\l Jettas makes its mark, the German car giant has chosen to release a small teaser of what buyers can expect when the new and improved GLI eventually makes its way to dealerships later this year. Unlike the typical teaser campaign that usually begins with a lone teaser image usually from odd or even unorthodox angles, Volkswagen has chosen to release a small GIF image of the GLI going in and out of focus on its Twitter feed which can be seen below. Ford Cranks Up Horsepower Wars With 2020 Super Duty, Debuts New 7.3 liter V8

The heavy duty pickup truck wars have never been hotter than they are now. All three major players (Ford GM and Ram) have all unveiled heavily revised offerings that aim to take the HD crown, with the Ram boasting an impressive 1,000 lb ft of torque. Ford didn’t want to be left in the dust, and has formally unveiled the heavily revised 2020 Ford Super Duty. Unlike the other two, Ford is keeping its torque figures close to the cuff, but the exterior styling for 2020 does not stray too far from the basic formula that has made the current generation Super Duty a sales success. Instead, Ford designers opted for a moderate refresh that includes a tweaked front grille that is more prominent than before, as well as a new design for the LED headlights. Small revisions to the front bumper help enhance aerodynamics slightly, while new graphics for …

Who says RUF can’t make some refined and restrained posh models along with their wild bodykits and slantnoses of the same era. 2019 Chevrolet Blazer RS – First Drive Gallery

The new Blazer is easily the best-looking SUV to be launched in recent years.  Just because we are not on the charmed list for the US media launch does not mean we can’t celebrate a sexy design with a full photo gallery! And like most GM cars and crossovers in the last year — that all drive with exactly the same level of non-feel and non-fun — the Blazer is likely to be a deep snooze behind the wheel.  Until you get to the top motor, which also skyrockets the price into the $40s.  Tough call. The LT and Premier trims have a lot more of the forgettable Malibu blah’s to their design, so the RS is surely the one to go for if you want a Camaro SUV. Those looks though! 2019 Chevrolet Blazer RS   2019 Chevrolet Blazer LT You May Also Like:2019 Acura RDX A-Spec – First Drive …

Toyota/Subaru Refute Reports of Demise of GT86/BRZ, Confirm Next Generation Model Is In The Works

Following a flurry of reports that suggested both the Toyota GT86 and the Subaru BRZ were not long for this world, representatives from Toyota and Subaru denied reports that both cars would be axed, and also revealed that work on the next generation Toyota GT86 and Subaru BRZ is already underway. While Toyota’s recent partnership with BMW on the Toyota Supra/BMW Z4 is currently center stage news these days, it can easy to be forget that Toyota also has a partnership with Japanese rival Subaru for production of the budget minded Toyota GT86 (aka the old Scion FR-S) and the Subaru BRZ. When the twins were released, they aimed to give budget minded enthusiasts a performance option that would not break the bank, and in the case of the long defunct Scion brand, a shot of vigor into its decaying sales numbers. While both cars do indeed pack commendable amounts …

Hyundai Tuscon N Model in the Works? New Report Suggest Its Happening

Hyundai’s N performance sub brand has bold aspirations for the performance vehicle market. With the i30 N and the U.S. exclusive Veloster N covering both sides of the globe with their hot hatch performance and the Elantra GT N-Line signaling the emergence of the N-Line lineup, new rumors suggest that an unlikely Hyundai offering could be the third model in Hyundai and N’s ruthless assault on the performance SUV segment. While we had our collective sights on perhaps seeing the smaller Kona CUV receive an N branded model of its own, several company insiders revealed to the folks at Auto Express that the Tuscon SUV could indeed be in the running for inclusion into the N brand family. When viewed in its current guise, the Tuscon is not necessarily the first nameplate you think of when asked to name a performance SUV. The Tuscon is a solid and capable family …
