Range remains one of the biggest topics when it comes to electric cars. With the Audi A6 Sportback e-tron, Miko Marczyk has pushed the limits far beyond what the manufacturer claims. The Polish rally driver managed to cover 1,338 kilometers on a single charge. A performance that earns him a new Guinness World Record for a production electric car.
The Audi A6 e-tron easily surpasses its WLTP range
On paper, the Audi A6 Sportback e-tron used for this attempt is rated for up to 777 kilometers of range according to WLTP. Miko Marczyk therefore managed to go about 72% farther, covering exactly 831 miles. That’s 1,338 kilometers on a single charge.
The challenge began in Poland on September 11 at 1:55 a.m. The route largely followed the Vistula River and passed through Kraków, Sandomierz, Warsaw, Toruń, and Grudziądz. The driver then reached Hel, on the Baltic Sea. Before returning the other way, using a large portion of the same route.
After more than 45 hours of driving, the Audi A6 e-tron’s battery was finally exhausted between Toruń and Ciechocinek.
This feat did not take place on a closed track nor under specially controlled laboratory conditions. The Audi was driven on public roads and had to contend with normal traffic, including during rush hours.
Temperatures also fluctuated along the journey. They averaged around 15 °C, with a low of about 7 °C.
The aerodynamics of the A6 e-tron play a major role
But the most impressive figure is likely the efficiency. Miko Marczyk kept energy consumption to just 7.09 kWh/100 km on average. A value more than half lower than the official mixed consumption rating for the A6 e-tron.
This frugality isn’t solely about the driver. The A6 e-tron Sportback benefits from a drag coefficient of only 0.21, making it the most aerodynamically efficient production model Audi has ever built.
It also features a 94.9 kWh battery and a regenerative braking system capable of up to 220 kW. According to Audi, this technology can handle nearly 95% of everyday braking through regeneration.
To optimize its range, Miko Marczyk also applied several classic eco-driving principles. Traffic anticipation, proper tire pressure, judicious use of regenerative braking, and limiting unnecessary accelerations or decelerations.
Miko Marczyk isn’t new to setting records
The Polish driver had already proven his efficiency prowess. In 2025, he covered 2,831 kilometers on a single tank with a fourth-generation Skoda Superb Diesel. His average consumption then stood at only 2.61 L/100 km.
This time, the reigning European Rally Champion tackled electrics. Still with a vehicle from the Volkswagen Group.
The 1,338 kilometers driven by the Audi A6 e-tron do not constitute the longest distance ever achieved by an electric vehicle on a single charge.
The absolute record belongs to the TUfast Eco team. In September 2023, their prototype dubbed “muc022” covered 2,573.79 kilometers in Germany on a single charge. Marczyk’s performance with this Audi therefore concerns specifically production cars.
The result remains spectacular. Not least since the 1,338 kilometers were driven on open roads. You shouldn’t expect to routinely reproduce such range in daily use. The more than 45 hours required for this attempt and the ongoing pursuit of minimal consumption place this record well outside typical everyday driving.
Nevertheless, this experiment demonstrates the full efficiency potential of the Audi A6 Sportback e-tron when its aerodynamics, energy recovery, and highly optimized driving are pushed to the limit. A demonstration that also underscores how much a driver’s behavior can influence the real-world range of an electric car.
