Two-Year Deal Worth €80 Million: Fernando Alonso’s Demands for Aston Martin to Stay in F1

August 23, 2026

Fernando Alonso set the summer break as the key date to decide his future in Formula 1. On the table it seems there are only two options: to continue with Aston Martin or to retire, and in theory it would depend on whether it is still fun to drive these cars. Now we know the other conditions for Alonso to stay in Formula 1.

According to Marc Limacher, Formula 1 financial expert and editor of the BUSINESS/book GP, Alonso wants to stay at Aston Martin until 2028. The Asturian driver is willing to remain for two more seasons alongside Adrian Newey, but he also wants his salary raised to 40 million.

Alonso wants to sign until 2028 with a salary increase included

After the summer holidays we should know the big decision of Fernando Alonso. At 45 years old, the Spanish driver weighs retirement from Formula 1 or continuing with Aston Martin. According to him, it will depend on whether he enjoys driving and on Honda’s new engine in Zandvoort, but there are more conditions on the table.

Marc Limacher is one of the leading finance specialists in Formula 1. In fact, he is responsible for writing the annual BOOK BUSINESS, which chronicles the economic twists of the world championship each season. Well, Limacher has published the information he has received about Alonso’s renewal.

According to this journalist, Fernando Alonso wants Aston Martin to raise his salary. Specifically, Limacher says that “I have heard that Fernando Alonso asks 40 million euros per season from Aston Martin to extend his contract in 2027 and 2028″. Thus, the Asturian would earn 10 million more per season.
