In Hungary, Aston Martin’s long-awaited upgrades arrive
The Formula 1 circus arrives at Hungaroring with everything at stake. Kimi Antonelli is the world championship leader, following the blow he delivered at Spa, but George Russell is eager to answer. Moreover, Lewis Hamilton remains within reach in the standings, 45 points behind, while Silverstone saw Charles Leclerc secure his first win in a long time.
Thus it isn’t clear who will be the favorite at Hungaroring—Ferrari or Mercedes. Perhaps the question is whether Kimi Antonelli will continue to reinforce the statement he made in Spa, or whether he will revert to a difficult run where, despite his speed, luck did not allow him to win. McLaren also needs to take a step forward to avoid slipping back.
Hungary becomes the race of hope for Fernando Alonso, as Aston Martin introduces a new package of upgrades so radical that it essentially amounts to a B-spec version of their AMR26. As for Carlos Sainz, Williams delivered a reality check with no points in Barcelona, Austria, Silverstone and Spa.
In Belgium we keep the usual format and schedule, since there will again be no Sprint. The race on Sunday will start at 15:00, but qualifying remains one hour later, at 16:00 on Saturday. The key is that there will be no Sprint as there was at Silverstone, so we will have the normal practice sessions.
The weather forecast does not predict major disruptions at Hungaroring, with little rain expected throughout the weekend, though Sunday carries the greatest risk. In fact, high temperatures are anticipated for Hungary. To watch the race on TV in Spain there are two paid options, since this race is not broadcast on free-to-air channels.
DAZN continues to hold exclusive television rights for Formula 1 in Spain, but Movistar Plus+ will continue to relay its signal through DAZN’s thematic channels.
