It has been long-awaited, but it’s here—the McMurtry Spéirling PURE, the production version of the car that stole the Goodwood show by smashing the record at the British circuit.
In the same way as the prototype, it carries two giant fans, but the creators claim that it uses 95% new components. The result? The most savage production car in the world.

When someone tells you that electric cars are appliances, you can show them this video of the McMurtry Spéirling at Silverstone. They’re likely to say it looks like a video game, but you’ll tell them it’s completely real, and that the car which overtakes a racing McLaren, a Lamborghini and an Aston Martin as if they were cones, has just gone on sale.
After taking the Goodwood hill climb record, devouring a Ferrari LaFerrari, and proving it can drive upside down, the McMurtry Spéirling has become a road car and couldn’t be more wild.
To give you an idea, McMurtry Automotive says that the Spéirling PURE lets any driver experience F1-level performance, and it’s not bluffing, nor is it just talking big.
This tiny, single-seat electric car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.55 seconds, tops out at 305 km/h, reaches up to 3 g in corners and in braking, like an F1, and generates 2,000 kg of aerodynamic downforce (even when stationary) thanks to two giant fans that cling it to the asphalt.
That last point is one of its key features, but so are its two electric motors because they deliver 1,014 HP to the rear wheels. That power figure is crazy for any car, but even more so for a model that measures barely 3.81 meters long, 1.79 meters wide and 1.05 meters tall, especially when you consider it weighs around 1,350 kg.
That said, despite its tiny size, its creators claim that people up to 2.01 meters tall can drive it, so it isn’t as cramped inside as you might think, although the seat must be custom-made and is fixed; the only adjustable parts are the steering wheel and pedals. At least, it can be fitted with air conditioning.
Powering the electricity is a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery. In this case, the manufacturer doesn’t talk about range, but the kilometers it can run on a track “at race pace”: between 40 and 50 km per charge.
The good news is that it can charge from 20% to 95% in 20 minutes. If you’re worried that the circuit you’ll visit with this beast won’t have charging points, no problem: McMurtry sells a giant “power bank” to charge it, with 100 kWh capacity and a charging power of 120 kW.
The less good news is that it’s an expensive car: it’s available from €1.15 million, before tax, although that figure can rise with options because McMurtry offers many customization possibilities. You should also add shipping to the final price.
