900 charging points for electric cars in the parking facilities of more than 60 stations on the Adif network and Adif AV. This is the project launched by the public body that manages Spain’s railway lines and stations, together with Repsol.
For now, they are already operational at 21 Adif stations, with outlets ranging from 22 kW (suitable for users who leave their car parked for several hours) to fast charging at 50 kW or higher, designed for high turnover in an estimated 30-minute window.
There are already 254 electrified spaces
The first phase of deploying charging points envisions a total of 254 electrified bays in operation across 21 stations: Alcázar de San Juan (Ciudad Real), Antequera Santa Ana (Málaga), Ferrol (A Coruña), Figueres (Girona), Figueres-Vilafant (Girona), Girona, Huelva, Lleida Pirineus, Logroño, Medina del Campo AV (Valladolid), Monforte de Lemos (Lugo), O Porriño (Pontevedra), Pamplona, Puente Genil-Herrera (Córdoba), Puertollano (Ciudad Real), Ronda (Málaga), Santander, Sevilla Virgen del Rocío, Toledo, Tudela de Navarra (Navarra) and Zaragoza Delicias.
According to the public body, the service can be used via Waylet, Repsol’s payment and loyalty app, or by bank card through the integrated POS at each unit.
Are these new points enough?
The plan aims to reach a target of about 900 charging points at more than 60 passenger stations across Spain between 2026 and 2027. But, are they enough? The short answer is no. The longer explanation is that Adif’s contribution accounts for only a small slice of the current ecosystem: there are around 56,600 public charging points—set to reach 91,000 this year—but rural Spain remains disconnected.
What it does address is the issue for users traveling on High-Speed trains (AVE) for work or tourism: you can leave your car charging at 22 kW safely in the station’s parking lot and you may return to find it fully charged after a multi-day trip.
The rest of the installations will be brought online progressively in successive phases during 2026 and 2027.
