Gas Prices Today – March 31

April 18, 2026

On Friday, for the first time since the reduced VAT was applied to fuels, prices began to fall: we have now four consecutive sessions with average prices slightly lower than the day before. Filling a tank of gasoline today costs about 69 euros on average, and a tank of diesel a little over 83 euros.

Nevertheless, they remain higher than pre-war levels in Iran, a conflict that has strained global oil trade and pushed up the Brent crude price. Over this weekend, crude prices also eased, dropping below 100 dollars for the first time in a month and a half of increases. Today, however, they rose slightly again.

Price of gasoline and diesel in Spain today

The Gasoline Unleaded 95 remains stable and opens the day at 1.544 €/l (nearly unchanged). Meanwhile, the Gasoline Unleaded 98 mirrors yesterday’s figures and sits at an average of 1.685 €/l across the country.

For diesel-powered vehicles, there is good news for those refueling with Gasóleo A, as the price falls to 1.856 €/l (a drop of 0.2 euro-cents). As for the higher-grade variant, Gasóleo A+ offers a small relief today, landing at 1.945 €/l (down by 0.3 euro-cents).

FUEL TODAY YESTERDAY MAX
Unleaded 95 1.544 1.545 2.152
Unleaded 98 1.685 1.686 2.311
Gasóleo A 1.856 1.858 2.106
Gasóleo A+ 1.945 1.948 2.199
Autogás/GLP 0.998 0.998 1.058

It is worth noting that the average prices in the table refer to Peninsular Spain and the Balearic Islands, although as is often the case, fuel prices can vary between stations. The difference between refueling at an expensive gas station and a cheaper one can exceed 15 euro-cents per liter.

Aside from international pricing, a large portion of what we pay per liter goes to taxes (0.472 €/l for gasoline and 0.379 €/l for diesel). The temporary relief for drivers comes from the VAT, which remains at 10%; an extraordinary fiscal relief designed to shield wallets from the volatility caused by the war in Iran.

Evolution of gasoline and diesel prices

As a backdrop, the European crude benchmark Brent is showing an upward trend today, standing at 102.21 dollars. This figure, combined with an exchange rate of 0.8560 dollars per euro, largely shapes the bill Spanish consumers will face when refueling today.
