November 2026 will be especially busy regarding changes for drivers. A quick overview of what lies ahead throughout the month.
Traffic will be heavily impacted in November!
The main changes concern the direction of traffic for motorists on certain road corridors. Thus, from November 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027, the Mountain Law applies again in France. This will require motorists traveling in 34 departments to equip their car with snow tires or with 4-season tires bearing the 3PMSF mark. Chains or snow socks are also possible. Currently, no fine is provided, due to the lack of a law.
The second change concerns the A69. The highway axis that has been the subject of much discussion will open in early November. Its toll is €8.50 for a private car. Electric and hydrogen vehicles will receive a 20% discount. Note that the A69 uses the principle of free-flow tolling. November will also mark the start of work on the Saint-Cloud tunnel. From November 16 and until the end of August 2027, the tunnel will be closed in the Paris → Province direction. This closure will affect the A13 between the beltway and the Vaucresson interchange.
Mind your wallet and your license!
November will also be shaped by what’s happening in the news. On the international front, fuel prices remain at very high levels. Consequently, the government has just unlocked strategic reserves to help lower diesel prices. The expected drop should be around 12 to 18 cents per liter. This could drastically reduce the price of a full tank. November may also be the month when your department implements the suspension of the driving license for using a phone at the wheel. An instruction from the ministry dated September 29 asks prefects to consider this possibility.
As for electric cars, there will also be changes to how the environmental score is calculated. Beginning November 24, three categories of cars will be distinguished, with a scoring system for cars with at least 7 seats, a trunk capacity of at least 700 liters, or a minimum range of 380 km. In the same vein, the Euro 7 standard will apply to new types of cars and vans starting November 29, 2026. These new regulations will take into account braking particle-emission limits, for example.
The month of November 2026 is busy and includes numerous changes to consider for drivers.
