Tesla Delays Roadster Unveiling Yet Again

September 29, 2026

While Tesla seemed poised to unveil the Roadster on October 1, nearly ten years after the model’s initial reveal, the wait isn’t over yet. In fact, Tesla is pushing back the debut of its electric supercar once more. It’s starting to feel like this car might never see the light of day.

Two-Week Delay

Tesla was set to unveil the Roadster on October 1 at an event in Texas. The company had teased followers with previews, but it now says the presentation will be postponed to October 15, a two-week delay. After nine years of waiting, two weeks feels almost trivial; some had begun to fear the car would never launch.

We hope the extra two weeks are worth it, especially after nine years of reservations from customers who, for some, have already ordered their Tesla Roadster. If Tesla delays the model’s debut, which we hope will be close to production-ready, it’s reportedly due to poor weather that would prevent a proper outdoor showcase on October 1. Tesla says the event must be held outdoors, so we’re likely to see demonstrations of the Roadster’s blistering acceleration.

Incredible Performance

For nearly a decade, the Roadster has been the subject of constant speculation. The chatter around the model runs high, and statements from Tesla and Elon Musk have fans dreaming big. It’s been hinted at achieving 0 to 60 mph in under two seconds, and even a SpaceX-inspired package with cold-gas thrusters to boost performance. Some hints suggest the car could briefly lift off the ground.

But we should remain cautious with Tesla. As always, bold promises don’t always translate into production reality. There can be a wide gap between what Tesla and Elon Musk promise and what actually makes it to the street. We’re hoping for a production-worthy electric car that delivers jaw-dropping acceleration, an impressive top speed, and perhaps an active spoiler. As for the cold-gas thrusters and liftoff capability, that sounds a bit far-fetched for a road car. Yet with Tesla, you never know what might come next—for better or worse!
