BMW X5 xDrive50i: 450-HP V8 for Under $32K — Is It a Good Idea?

September 21, 2026

A big premium SUV, a nearly 450-horsepower petrol V8, and a price tag lower than many new compact cars. On paper, this used BMW X5 xDrive50i has serious talking points. This 2018 example is on offer in Germany for just €31,600. But at that price, what do you actually get?

A 449-horsepower BMW X5 xDrive50i for €31,600

The unit currently for sale belongs to the F15 generation of the BMW X5. Under its hood sits a 4,395 cc V8 gasoline engine delivering 330 kW. That translates to 449 horsepower. It’s paired with an automatic transmission and all-wheel drive (xDrive). Paddle shifters on the steering wheel and an adaptive suspension are also listed among the standard equipment.

This BMW X5 xDrive50i shows 85,479 km on the odometer. It was first registered in June 2018. Two previous owners have occupied the driver’s seat, and the vehicle is presented as a model intended for the German market.

Its MOT-style inspection (TÜV) will need to be renewed. Importantly, the latest service or revision listed in the listing dates from August 2026. An element that is rather reassuring for a BMW SUV with this kind of engine.

Its price? €31,600. An amount that makes it possible to acquire one of the most powerful versions of this X5 generation, safely under the €32,000 mark. Interesting, isn’t it?

A luxurious setup and a particularly rich equipment list

This X5 doesn’t rely solely on its V8. Its blue bodywork is paired with a full-beige leather interior, a combination that stands out from the dark interiors often found in this type of SUV.

The equipment includes power-adjustable seats with memory and heating, ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof. Add to that dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry, and a power tailgate.

The multimedia package on this X5 isn’t left behind. The seller lists navigation, Bluetooth, DAB digital radio, USB ports, music streaming, and an audio system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also mentioned. There’s also wireless charging for smartphones and a Wi‑Fi hotspot. More surprisingly today, a CD changer remains on the feature list.

To help with parking, this BMW X5 comes with front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, and a autonomous parking system.

A big BMW V8 with serious credentials

The listing also mentions blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, traffic sign recognition, fatigue detection, emergency braking assist, and a system to help with parking exits.

One detail to check before buying this X5. The German ad uses the abbreviation “AHK,” which denotes a tow hitch. Yet it does not appear in the general equipment list or in the seller’s detailed description.

No towing capacity is indicated either. The actual presence of this equipment should be confirmed directly on the vehicle or in its documents.

With its 449 horsepower, all-wheel drive, generous equipment, and the recently listed inspection, this BMW X5 xDrive50i has an appealing spec sheet. Its price of €31,600 makes the offer even more tempting for someone who specifically wants a large SUV fitted with a gasoline V8.

That said, this type of vehicle is mainly suited to a buyer prepared to handle a substantial powerplant and to thoroughly inspect the specific example in question. Under €32,000, this F15 X5 reminds us that it’s still possible to find premium, large-displacement V8s on the used market… And that, without breaking the bank at the time of purchase.
