Regional $250 Fuel Assistance Now Available: How to Claim It

September 18, 2026

Fuel prices continue to surge in France. A region in the hexagon has chosen to roll out regional aid—a rebate that can reach up to €250. Here’s who can benefit and the steps to take if applicable.

A €250 allowance to install an E85 conversion kit

During a period when fuel prices keep rising, government assistance is always welcome. That’s the aim behind the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region’s announcement earlier this week. On September 15, local authorities announced the return of the Bioethanol Transition Voucher, with a total budget of €500,000. The goal: to reduce the fuel expenses of residents in the region.

This aid is simply that authorities cover part of the cost of installing an E85 conversion box on a conventional gasoline car. This installation would enable drivers to run on superethanol E85, which is priced far lower than regular fuel. In France on average, the price per liter of E85 is about €0.89, while standard fuel hovers around €2.30 per liter. The regional aid amounts to €250 and is disbursed per household.

What steps must be taken?

To apply, don’t delay. Indeed, applications must be submitted before October 30, 2026. To do so, head to the region’s dedicated aid website. To receive €250, eligibility is required. Authorities have noted that the targeted aid initially focuses on the most modest households: “The aid concerns tax households whose members own at least one private car for personal use, whose home is located within the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur regional territory, and whose 2026 income tax on the 2025 revenue is zero or less.”

The application process is fairly straightforward. You simply log on to the Aides en ligne portal and submit your request for the Bioethanol Transition Voucher. At that point, the portal will ask for supporting documents. This could include, for example, a photocopy of your identity card or passport, as well as evidence that the vehicle registration has been updated to reflect the fuel change.

This aid will help bring down your fuel bill by driving on E85—a practical alternative in the face of rising prices at the pump.
