A Lamborghini Gallardo for the price of a used city car—that sounds like a fantasy. Yet this eBay listing from the United Kingdom promises exactly that. In the photos, you might think you’re looking at an Italian supercar run through a clothes dryer. In reality, it’s a one‑off creation based on a small Smart car.
This striking visual hybrid is called Smartborghini, a portmanteau of Smart and Lamborghini. Built on the foundations of a Smart Fortwo Cabrio 2014, it borrows the lines of a Lamborghini Gallardo. It looks as if it shrank in the wash. The white bodywork, orange decals, black wheels, and the massive rear diffuser drive the point home. And beneath that supercar façade, the technical sheet remains that of a simple city car. A contrast that naturally intrigues the curious motorist.
Smartborghini: The Smart Fortwo That Poses as a Lamborghini
At its core, the Smartborghini started as a basic 2014 Smart Fortwo Cabrio bought in Britain. A Northern Irish shop, Vale Automotive, completely recarrossed it to mimic a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder. A plunging hood, enlarged air intakes, sculpted side skirts, and artfully crafted bumpers create a silhouette of a mini supercar. From the front or the rear, you truly feel like a Smart has fused with a Lamborghini. For years, the car stood as a showroom centerpiece outside Giovanna Concept’s offices. It later became a curiosity widely picked up by the international automotive press.
Visually, everything was pushed to the extreme to mimic the Italian supercar. The body is painted white and accented with orange stripes. It sits on large black wheels and ends with a massive rear diffuser. The headlights are actually just stickers. It becomes clear then that the car wasn’t designed for everyday road use. The interior features black leather, Alcantara, and orange stitching in Lamborghini style. All of this leans into a serious fantasy that recalls internet montages like Smorche or Smaudi.
Under the Bodywork, a 71-HP Smart Sold on eBay
Despite all that supercar theater, the drivetrain remains entirely original. You’ll still find the tiny 1.0-liter inline-three engine from the Fortwo, making 71 horsepower. The 0–60 mph time is around 13.7 seconds and the top speed tops out at about 145 km/h (roughly 90 mph). A true Lamborghini Gallardo packs a 5.0-liter V10 generating 500 hp. It does 0–60 in about 4.2 seconds and can reach around 192 mph. So the real power gap is almost sevenfold in favor of the proper supercar.
After its showroom stint, the Smartborghini entered the online auction scene. Its first listing on eBay pitched it at about £11,999, roughly €13,800. The odometer showed just 82 kilometers, and the usage was mostly symbolic. It has since returned to the platform priced at £9,999 (about €11,600). The odometer now reads 91,140 miles, roughly 146,700 kilometers. The front bumper is listed as damaged. A mileage more typical of a heavily used city car, for something initially conceived as pure publicity. All of this makes it a curiosity likely to attract a very specific set of buyers.
