It has been quite a journey, but finally the Auto+ Plan for subsidies on the purchase of electric cars and plug-in hybrids has been published in the BOE. The issue: this does not mean the application window is open, so we still do not know when applications will be possible.
But keep in mind that the 400 million euros allocated to the Auto+ Plan have retroactive effect – everyone who has purchased an electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid since January 1, 2026 can apply – and they are granted on a first-come, first-served basis.

When will the Auto+ Plan application window be open?
So far it has been approved in the BOE, in Royal Decree 609/2026, of July 22, but the ministerial order still needs to be issued, so applications cannot be submitted yet. The application deadline will end on the December 31, 2026 at 14:00, and recall that these are direct subsidies: they are paid by transfer after the file is resolved.
The problem: anyone who has bought a pure electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid since January 1, 2026 can access these subsidies, so a portion of the budget already has a claimant. Data from the industry association Anfac shows that from January to June more than 71,000 pure electric vehicles were sold, while plug-in hybrids totalled 83,185.
Resolutions granting the aid will be published on the Ministry of Industry and Tourism’s Aid Portal (Portal de Ayudas del Ministerio de Industria y Turismo).
The White List: if my vehicle model does not yet appear on this list, can I apply for the aid?
Funding under the European criterion can only be granted to vehicle models that, at the time of application, are included in the Auto+ White List, which has not yet been published.
Even if your vehicle does not yet appear on the White List you can apply for the aid. However, you will not receive the additional bonuses of the European Criterion. Moreover, if the vehicle model appears later on this list, the amount of aid will not be updated in the submitted application, meaning you must withdraw or renounce that application to submit a new one.

How do I access the application form?
Through the Ministry of Industry and Tourism’s electronic headquarters, in the “Aid Portal» → “AUTO+ PROGRAM”. Identification will be required with an electronic certificate, DNIe or Cl@ve. After identification you will be able to access the help application menus for Line 1, help application for Line 2, view submitted applications, correct submitted applications, cancel applications, appeal applications, modify data in submitted applications and request a change of representative.
If you’d rather not deal with it yourself, you can process it through your dealership or renting company. You can sign a responsible declaration of authorization so that the dealership or the leasing/renting company acts as your legal representative, handles the online paperwork, and uploads the documentation for you.
What documents do I have to submit with the application, at minimum?
Final technical data sheet (ITV) definitive, definitive vehicle registration document, bank certification, purchase invoice (or contract if renting/leasing) and the payment proofs (all necessary to prove full payment of the vehicle). Only definitive documents are accepted, never provisional ones.
If your dealer manages it, the declaration of representation is required (if the dealer or renting company handles it).
How should the program discount be reflected on the invoice?

The discount must appear as a deduction of at least 1,000 euros off the pre-tax price, with a description clearly relating it to the Program (it is recommended that the invoice explicitly states “Auto+ Program Discount”). However, there is a transitional provision in the Program’s terms that exempts this requirement for requests under the 2026 call for vehicles purchased before the opening of the submission window.
Calculator to determine the discount
Thanks to this calculator, you can know the exact amount of aid you are entitled to under the Auto+ Plan depending on the plug-in car and the requirements it meets:
